Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 24, 2015 3:13 pm I'd like to understand more about primer. Some undercoats have it in and some don't. What is priming? How does it differ from sealing? A rep from one paint firm told me you only need to prime external timber, and a rep from another told me you need to prime internal timber as well. Which one is correct, and what is the evidence? What happens if you undercoat and paint timber without priming it? And if you have a choice of Primer Sealer Undercoat and Sealer Undercoat, both the same brand and the same price, and you are undercoating plasterboard, and don't need the Primer, is there a disadvantage of using Primer Sealer Undercoat (on the grounds that if there is stuff in the paint you don't need, that means there would be less room for the stuff in the paint that you do need)? I'd just look at what the intended applications are on the can or on the product's website. I am looking for someone who might have tackled a similar issue as me. I have a few rendered interior walls, the surface condition is hardly flat. I can see all the bumps… 0 7964 Hi Would love some advice on a DIY project I've dived into that's now keeping me up at night.
