Re: Our First Home! Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Bloc 25Mar 27, 2015 6:55 pm The slope reminds me of the last house I built. That was bearers and joists that I did as owner-builder. There's something nice about that type of construction. Re: Our First Home! Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Bloc 26Mar 27, 2015 7:09 pm Abztronic Aww thanks. I hope it turns out as well as we imagined. I'll make sure I keep you all updated and take lots and lots of pics. We've trained you well Re: Our First Home! Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Bloc 27Mar 28, 2015 12:36 am I do think that building on a slope allows you to be more creative with your build. I'm looking forward to seeing it go up. I'm actually interested in the process and not just the finished product so I plan on visiting my building site pretty much on a daily basis. Re: Our First Home! Ive seen a similar design on the H1 forums before and i totally loved the idea of having extra bench space in the pantry Re: Our First Home! Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Bloc 30Mar 31, 2015 4:26 pm Well a little bit of good news. Our plans have finally come back from the valuation and we now have full approval for the construction loan! Yayy!! All that is left now is for us to sign the papers when they come in and we get our letter to commence Re: Our First Home! Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Bloc 31Mar 31, 2015 5:00 pm yay. congratulations! Always good news when the bank agrees to the value Re: Our First Home! Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Bloc 33Mar 31, 2015 6:58 pm I know!! Thanks guys. we are lucky that the houses around the area are fairly new and are selling for decent prices. Now all we are waiting for is our letter to commence. Anybody have an idea how long that takes? Re: Our First Home! Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Bloc 34Mar 31, 2015 7:02 pm Usually only a week or two, and then depending on your builder maybe a week or two to start Not long now! Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Bloc 36Apr 02, 2015 8:58 am Looks good, nice that you have a window in there What are the dimensions of your WIP? I can't tell from your plans. We just have shelves in ours because I didn't think a 1600x1600 space was big enough to have actual bench space in it but now I'm wondering... Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Bloc 37Apr 02, 2015 9:06 am The walk in pantry is about 1500 x 2100 so its not too bad. we wanted the extra kitchen bench in there as the main kitchen doesn't have a lot of bench space. Also our house plans have changed a fair bit since the 3d image of the kitchen was made. So the window you can see in the kitchen plans will now be alfresco stacker doors that will run the length of the alfresco Re: Our First Home! Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Bloc 38Apr 02, 2015 9:13 am Ah ok. Yeah we just have basic shelves, I was always expecting to need to make some changes once I've lived in it, whether it's just getting storage boxes to go on the shelves or ripping them out and doing a custom install. We got rid of the window in the butler's pantry so it makes it easy to change the configuration. And a stacker door is even better than a window Jen (& Dave) Plantation Bronte, Ormeau Ridge, Gold Coast QLD 12/03/2015 - Commencement... 26/08/2015 - Handover! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76446 Re: Our First Home! Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Bloc 39Apr 04, 2015 2:12 pm That's an interesting pantry door design. Do those doors open inwards into the pantry so that they stay out of the way when you leave them open? Re: Our First Home! Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Bloc 40Apr 05, 2015 6:34 am I'm going to talk to the kitchen people about that. It's likely that the pantry doors will have handles and open inwards to maximise space and efficiency. Give Jonathan a call. Tell him you know me.
