Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has built with Oracle before? If yes, how was your experience?
TIA
Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Oracle Platinum 3Mar 20, 2015 7:47 pm I just found your post and left a comment. Sorry I am just learning how to use this site. Have you made your selections yet? My hubby and I went through a display home today and the prices seem to be much cheaper than elsewhere. Re: Oracle Platinum 4Mar 20, 2015 7:56 pm No selections as yet, we are still deciding. Our land wont be ready untill June or thereabouts & were told there could possibly be different colours to choose from by then. The prices & inclusions are just amazing compared to other builders. Also what sold us was the great customer service. What house plan are you looking at?
Re: Oracle Platinum 5Mar 20, 2015 8:02 pm We have looked at so many I`m confused, not sure on the names. We don`t have land yet so still in the early stages -can never be too prepared when building! Just the prices through me a bit as we have been looking through displays for a couple of months now and they seem a lot cheaper than most other. I`m just wondering if the prices will escalate much higher than proposed? Re: Oracle Platinum 6Mar 20, 2015 8:13 pm Its hard to estimate when you dont have the land BUT the good thing with these guys is they have a fixed contract price so basically they cant charge you for anything extra. And if they try to you both have to sign it. We took our contract to our solicitor who confirmed we are highly safe for not getting charged any extra unless we make variations. They had a price increase in January this year, so surely they wont have another one anytime soon. My advice is once you get your land and are at tender stage make all your variations then, not after. You will find out if you can afford what you want. Once you sign a tender you will have to pay $1,750 to proceed with contract stage (cheaper than other builders). I would definatly recommend them, although our house has not yet started the experience so far is great. What display home did you go to? Re: Oracle Platinum 7Mar 22, 2015 6:48 am We went through the display homes at Watagan Park. Oracle seem to offer a lot more extras for a lot less - stone benchtops, downlights, tapware ect. We re just trying to gather as much info as we can at the moment. Your right, we really should lock down a block first then consider who we are building with (getting a bit excited lol) Re: Oracle Platinum 10May 12, 2015 9:55 pm I am about to sign our contract with Oracle and thinking of taking it to a solicitor to look over as it seems there is alot of extra costs that be charged to us later on.. Which we have been told it's a standard contract written by the HIA. Did anyone else change any conditions in there contract and/or should we be worried? Re: Oracle Platinum 11May 13, 2015 6:07 am We took ours to solicitor, we changed the initial period of 60 days to 120 days as we have. unregistered land. Got them to cross out & sign hidden costs in hitting rock. We are building in their display home estate. Confirmed the council fees are already in contract price. I tried to change the $1 liquidated damages to $100 but they would not budge. They gave me home owners warrenty insurance letter upon signing. We have a fixed contract price, if our land takes an extra 6months to register Oracle would give us a price increase. Our solicitor said if thet try to charge us we both have to sign for it. I am really happy & can't wait for build to commence. All the best Re: Oracle Platinum 12Jun 16, 2015 8:08 am Hi Pink86, Just checking in to see how is everything going? Oh, and to say that we have now purchased a block -YAY! We have paid the $1,750 with Oracle to get our plans drawn up and engineered, then we will need to pay another $1,750 for soil testing and contours. Our land won`t be registered for another 4-6weeks so we still have some time to decide on colour selections. I know that we will be upgrading our brick selection which worries me as I know the price will change. We have asked the questions about the difference in the brick prices (3 times) but they keep avoiding giving us an answer. We won`t be paying anymore money until we get an answer about the bricks. Also, we had a price on a colorbond roof and asked the question if the under blanket was included in that price, and we were told yes, but now the roof has gone up in price by another $1,600 for the added cost of the blanket. Also, we changed the ensuite around which was no additional cost but now it`s an extra $500-600. I`m worried that more additional costs will pop up All in all the service & communication has been good and I feel like the price is fair but I like them to be upfront about prices and not beat around the bush. Please tell me that everything is running smoothly on your end... Re: Oracle Platinum 13Jun 16, 2015 9:20 am Hi Bexy, thats great news! Congrats! Where did you buy land & what house plan did you pick? Our land is also due for rego in 4-6weeks. We had changes prior to contract & one variation so far, all of which came at a cost. We didn't need to pay the additional $1,750 for soil test as we bought in 'their' estate. I found they have not answered a few of my questions via email but as soon as I call them I get a straight answer. As we are building a promotion home we do not get the choice of changing anything on the colour boards. If you are told that you are not being charged for something, speak up. It happened to me & once I addressed it they fixed it up. They are all about good service so if your not happy, tell them. Everything is running smoothly here, still just undecided about what colours to choose. We signed our contract in Feb so it's really just a waiting game at the moment. Re: Oracle Platinum 14Jun 16, 2015 10:44 am Our land is at Waterford County at Chisholm NSW. It was much cheaper than the other blocks because it`s an odd shape but we were able to customise a design with oracle (willowvale) to make the block work. I`m fine with paying the extra $1,600 for the blanket under the colourbond roof but I just wish they had been upfront with me about it when I asked the question. I`m hoping to get all of the changes done that we need before signing the contract. I`ll make sure I get that price on the bricks first too because that could be a massive variation. What home are you building? Re: Oracle Platinum 15Jun 16, 2015 11:09 am Oh lovely, we would have loved to have bought land out there. Was way cheaper but too far for us to travel to work. They should have been upfront, we were lucky & did not experience anything like that. Yes good idea to do variations now. We are building advantage plus 233. Re: Oracle Platinum 17Jun 16, 2015 12:19 pm We are central for work at Waterford, my husband travels all around Newcastle and the Hunter for work, and I work from home. You should have a nice flat block at Watagan Park. It`s so nice there, I think it`s going to turn out to be a nice little community. I just googled your house plan, I love it. 4 bed, 2 bath, media, living and kids activity - wow you`re on a winner there! Having all that will be great for resale too if you ever decide to move on. The service from Oracle has been great so far, nothing that we want is too hard, I`m just worried that our budget is going to blow out that`s all. I`m a planner so I like to know what I`m in for lol. Hubby and I have discussed that worst case scenario we will have to go back to their basic essentials package instead of the top of the range elegance. I think the essentials package still offer great value with downlights and stone as standard, and things like tap fittings and door handles can be changed later if we`re really not happy with them. I`m going to start a thread when we start building. Do you know how to add pics? Re: Oracle Platinum 18Jun 16, 2015 12:28 pm That's so great for you! Thankyou, yes we thought the plan was great. We made a few amendments & added a walk in pantry & extended alfresco. Can't wait! I am happy with the essentials package - this is what we have to get. Its just a shame we can't change anything on the colour boards, we are finding this the hardest part of the process. Yea we can't complain about the service, ours has been great. Yes very happy with the estate, it's meant to grow quite big with schools & shops going in. We got the turnkey package & fixed price contract so confident we don't blow our budget. I use the app tapatalk & can add photos through there. Re: Oracle Platinum 19Jun 16, 2015 12:36 pm Tapatalk, I didn`t even know that there was an app for this lol. I`ll have to look that one up and download it so I can start my thread and put progress photos up. I love seeing other people progress photos Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74717 |
