How they went from $3k to $17 is beyond me... Haha thanks. Beyond me too. I'm tempted to put the emails up on here, makes for funny reading. Re: Building a Coral Homes Daydream 30 in Karalee 83Aug 26, 2015 6:28 am Tribe7 OMG how in the world did that happen? High 5 defdaz your persistence paid off big time, now you have a little slush funds for something else if you fancy. Thanks Tribe! I did say to my wife that since I saved us that money I could spend it on myself but for some reason she wasn't keen on the idea. Re: Building a Coral Homes Daydream 30 in Karalee 84Aug 29, 2015 7:47 pm Great news you got your posts sorted defdaz hopefully you get issued with a start date in the next week or so. Re: Building a Coral Homes Daydream 30 in Karalee 86Sep 01, 2015 12:27 pm Thanks guys, me too. Despite getting everything sorted with their head Estimator last Monday we're still waiting for the updated Tender to come through. Considering the post fiasco cost us three weeks I am not very impressed at how slow the updated tender is being. :/ I put in a complaint about the posts and I've had a response - they've given the estimator who dealt with my house an official warning and put training and other processes in place to try and prevent it happening again. If true then I feel a bit bad for the estimator but they very nearly cost us $3k so I don't feel *that* bad... Re: Building a Coral Homes Daydream 30 in Karalee 87Sep 01, 2015 6:37 pm It is dragging on a bit now isn't it? Have they given you any indication on when you might get to site? Don't feel bad, the estimator is paid to do a good job not a slap happy one at your expense. The 3k is a huge amount, far better it being in your pocket Re: Building a Coral Homes Daydream 30 in Karalee 88Sep 02, 2015 7:57 am Got the tenders through again yesterday Tribe7 - I guess another complaint the the QLD Area Sales Manager did the trick. They've made a mistake (stone top in laundry when we asked for laminate) but we're too tired to bother getting it changed so hopefully they'll be emailed back over to the today. Re: Building a Coral Homes Daydream 30 in Karalee 89Sep 02, 2015 11:12 am If that's the only thing holding up the contract i would just put that through as a variation after contract if possible. As it's a credit just get it in writing from head office that you can do it so you aren't charged a $100 variation fee to get the ball rolling. Re: Building a Coral Homes Daydream 30 in Karalee 90Sep 02, 2015 12:37 pm Thanks Gunna - good point! I've asked them to do it as a post-contract variation - cheers. Re: Building a Coral Homes Daydream 30 in Karalee 91Sep 04, 2015 4:13 pm Well they're not having it, they want to get them done now so we're having to wait for the variations to be done again (Colours and tiles due to getting the tiles wrong on one wall). Everything else is good to go, except for a challenge about the tiles variation cost (they missed off an allowance for it in the tender so should be 3k cheaper). Re: Building a Coral Homes Daydream 30 in Karalee 92Sep 09, 2015 9:21 pm Tiles has been sorted out, thank goodness, and we've finally had our start date applied for! Wasn't sure we'd get there at some points, and going from the other threads it's only going to get more stressful. Eek!! Re: Building a Coral Homes Daydream 30 in Karalee 95Sep 10, 2015 3:51 pm Have you got it yet? They seem to be pretty quick when it comes to allocating start dates. I have a feeling we will have the same SS as he mentioned he has another build in Karalee No not yet - would be funny if it the same guy. Is he good? No date yet - I'll be cheeky and ask. Re: Building a Coral Homes Daydream 30 in Karalee 97Sep 10, 2015 4:36 pm After all the variations, electrical, colours etc. our house price went up by roughly $2.5k. Not too bad! Tender Amount $332,324.00 Less Deposit Paid $7,245.00 Plus Variations VO1 $3,084.00 Credit VO2 $573.00 Credit VO3 $2,025.00 VO4 $4,800.00 VO5 $767.00 Credit Total $327,480.00 = Balance Outstanding as of today’s date . Yeah he's on top of it and his guys are good too, couple of hiccups with frame but easily fixed and a missed item at slab stage that we aren't getting fixed as we don't want the slab penetrated - missing optional floor waste in the laundry. Communication is pretty good as well which makes things much better. I am top of it though, always checking up on the work as we don't have a site fence so have access at this stage. I'm the one who has highlighted issues at this stage but at lock up i'm hoping he is onto it. He did drop a sly comment about our number of variations though, I in total it was up to 8 variations. Excellent - we haven't gone for floor waste in the laundry so at least they can't get that wrong! Where abouts are you? 8 variations isn't toooo bad. We'll have six I think, mainly due to Coral's ineptitude... which, I've just realised includes that they've not included the 3k on tile labour in the above list (V04 should be $1900 roughly). So in actually fact overall the house price is less than the original contact. Win! Re: Building a Coral Homes Daydream 30 in Karalee 100Sep 11, 2015 8:43 am Start date - 24th. 13 days, yay! Hi, as per the subject. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best value decking oil (Bunning is close to where I live) for a treated pine deck? Thanks 0 10974 Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13781 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish. So ask… 1 4354 |
