How is your build going now? Thanks! Slab was poured on Saturday so I'm figuring we'll have to wait a week or two for it to cure... have moved in with the in laws while our place is on the market but will go back between the auction and settlement (assuming we get a result on auction day, fingers crossed!) My slab pour is today. So excited. Who was your slab supervisor? Who is your construct supervisor? How awesome! I think you're the first we've come across on here. Where are you building? We had Hany as slab supervisor & Andrew for site. Are you also glad you got the Livingstone before it became the Lamont? I haven't come across anyone on here that's building Livingstone 23 except for you guys now. I have Hany too as my slab supervisor and Matt who I haven't met yet as my site supervisor. I am building in somerfield keysborough. . Yes I am glad I got the Livingstone before they changed it lamont. I think I was one the last ones because 2 weeks after I signed change of plans if was gone from the access range. Howeverido like the new artist impression on the undated photo on PD website. Who is your BC? It's slab pouring day today and I am up nice and early. I hope it has passed the surveyor inspection last night and when I turn up they have started to pour the slab. My frame is schedule to start on the 17th weather pending. I read that yours is up and nearly done which is awesome. I made some structural changes so hopefully mine is as quick as yours. Nice pictures of your house build so far. Lawrence Re: Building Porter Davis "Livingstone" in SE Melbourne 31Feb 11, 2016 6:08 am Lawrence Yes very awesome. I find it weird they're using the existing Livingstone displays as Lamonts, despite the new floor plans being slightly different. Our BC was Wilma. What facade are you having? We're basically copying the Mayfield one, with a lot of the internal colours as well. We fell in love with both the house and the estate. Even if there are issues, from our experience they're the sort of thing that can be cleared up quickly while the inspector is on site. All but one of our 12 were rectified with him present, the other was something they had to do while pouring. It's amazing how quick things happen once they get going! We had the first open home for our current home today, fairly positive news given it's a Thursday. Should have more of an idea of interest come Sat. I am not a builder or know much a building but I can read plans pretty well. It was a standard h1 slab so I thought I save some cash on this one. Plus I learnt that the surveyor has to sign off on it and no one else's opinion or reports matter much besides the builder trying to keep the client happy. But in saying that I will consider getting one for the frame stage. Couple things I picked up during the pre slab prep but it was fixed even before I said anything. The slab was poured yesterday and it has come up really well. Besides few minor cosmetic issues which is fixable it was magnificent piece of concrete. How soon after the slab pour did you guys receive the base invoice? When they did a slab clean did they also clean your site? Yes very fortunate to get Livingstone design just in time. We we with the classic Manhattan colour schemes but stuck with blacks, greys and white. Exception being vanities and dark chocolate oak composite timber flooring. Ended up stick with the included riva facade. I may add rendered brick columns in the future. It's a good floor plan so I am not surprised they have made it at a cheaper price entry point. Alternate kitchen plan is exactly the same as Livingstone 23. They stripped several things back to make it cheaper. I'd read through the Porter Davis thread (or go straight to tblhoward & dojrude's blogs) and you might rethink that. We found 12 issues with the slab, some quite serious but quickly fixed, and I'm not sure I trust their people/surveyor to be catching stuff like that. I agree with the woodies; very important to get inspections done, imho. I did, & it paid off for me in terms of finding issues..& I am somewhat in the know with regard to the Australian Standards & the BCA (vol 2) myself, however I wouldn't just rely on that alone when it comes to getting specialised inspection services. All the best with it Lawrence Sent using Tapatalk Building Porter Davis "Livingstone" in SE Melbourne 38Feb 12, 2016 4:31 pm Lawrence, if you still believe no inspections are necessary I'd be happy to forward you the 22 page slab/frame report we just received. If our site supervisor had prepared us that things were incomplete or there might be issues it would at least have been less of a shock.
