Hi
Just new to the fourm, so hope I'm posting at the correct location, please advise if not.
Anyway, we are soon to commence construction of a new house and we are currently trying to get our construction certificate so we can commence.
We are located in Sydney, NSW. We are doing a knockdown and re-build. The site is fully serviced by Sydney Water, Jemena, Telstra and Optus (as we have used both providers over our time there).
What my query relates to is that one of the conditions of consent of the DA states the following:
Utility provider requirements
Prior to issue of the Construction Certificate, the applicant must make contact with all relevant utility providers whose services will be impacted upon by the development. A written copy of the requirements of each provider, as determined necessary by the Certifying Authority, must be obtained. All utility services or appropriate conduits for the same must be provided by the developer in accordance with the specifications of the utility providers.
Currently I have used Sydney Water's online TAPIN service (which has replaced Quickcheck), paid the fee of $17, and received correspondence indicating approval by them.
I then contacted Ausgrid via an email address on their website, provided various details of the development, they charged an exorbitant fee of $500+ for a one page letter to indicate approved by them.
Where my question is, do you need to do the same with gas (Jemena) and phone (Telstra/Optus), neither of which appear to have any process to request (eg there seems to be no form, email, online process or webpage, that I can find regarding this).
I called Jemena, they didn't seem to particularly understand what I was asking, except to say, as I already had gas there was no issue, and that I needed to put in a disconnection form for the demolition phase and new connection form for construction, I reinforced that whilst I understood that, in any event I needed something in writing prior to commencement and issue of construction certificate to state their requirement in relation to my request and property. They then gave me an email address of gasavailaibility@jemena.com.au, which I have sent details to, but I have not yet received a response.
I haven't called Telstra or Optus, dreading the call centre.
Does anyone know what needs to be done or where I need to look to get letter from Gas and Communucations to satisfy this Condition of Consent.
Thanks for your assistance.
