Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 08, 2015 10:49 am We are about to build our dream home with Burbank. Our house is the Indigo 51. We are still meeting with the consultant from the display home. His name is Noel. His a lovely guy, very helpful. We've made quite a few changes and his been very flexible. Our land will settle on 13.3.15. In the meantime, Burbank is organising our soil test and working with us to fine tune our house plan and up grade selections. Hopefully our pre-approval will come through for the house build this week, this will allow us to get a fixed price and start date. So far so good with Burbank. I'll keep you posted.... Re: Burbank Build 2015 2Mar 18, 2015 8:12 am Our land settles today!!! Still waiting on Burbanks soil test.... Re: Burbank Build 2015 4Mar 24, 2015 7:52 pm So our soil test has come back. The honeymoon is officially over. Originally our consultalt told us that our site cost would be no more then 15K. He "assured" us that it would probably be alot less. The results came in today and it turns out that we have a P class block (Problem Site). The worst kind of site. Not good. Now we've been told that our site costs have is 24K. The consultant told us that this figure might be less - my response to him - "its never less." To add salt to injury - they can no longer provide us with a fixed price contract or a start date. All because of our block type. We have alot to think about... Re: Burbank Build 2015 5Mar 25, 2015 11:44 am Now looking at the Mica 37 from the Burbank Future range. This seems to be an equally good option for us for far much less $$. Our consultant, Noel, is working around the clock with us to get it right. He is great. Its a great 5 bedroom house with a 7 star energy rating. Everything is included (-fencing & landscaping), all flooring, blocker blinds, down lights, stone bench tops, drive way etc. There's also heaps of extra things that i never would have thought about adding. Ducted vacuum, a laundry chute and loads loads more. But this is the best part, we paid 10k for 39k upgrade choices. We've used most of it but we've got 11k left to use on selection day. How exciting, 11k to spruce up a house that's already loaded with extras. AND they gave us free air con. So far Burbank have been great. Noel our consultant is a star. Next step a fixed price and approximate start date (they cant guarantee a start date because our block is a p grade). Looking forward to moving things along. Re: Burbank Build 2015 9Mar 28, 2015 6:04 pm Went to sign our precontracts today. Locked in the Mica 37. Noel our consultant was awesome. We went to the Edge after our meeting with Noel to check out the selections. Loads to consider, happy we went before our selection appointment. Young girl who showed us through the showroom was lovely. Burbank will draw up our final contracts and plans now, we should hear back from them in 2 weeks.. Ill post more then. Happy building and renovating to all.. Re: Burbank Build 2015 10Mar 28, 2015 11:30 pm Congrats on signing up Burbank, it's a very good idea to go to the show room and start planning for all the extras. 11k is a great amount for the kitty, try to put aside a decent amount for electricals above the standard inclusions, it's crazy how quickly it all adds up. Burbank Build 2015 12Mar 29, 2015 10:59 am Burbank Indigo Thanks! Have you built with Burbank? No not with Burbank, our build will start after Easter with Metricon. We did visit a lot of Burbank display homes when on the hunt, unfortunately they only offer a small range of two story homes up here with 4 or more bedrooms and the layouts didn't quite work for us other wise we would of considered building with them. Re: Burbank Build 2015 14Mar 29, 2015 11:46 am High clay level. Apparently the earth us very damp. They reduced the site cost to 20k. Still high but better then 24k. Re: Burbank Build 2015 15Mar 29, 2015 12:37 pm Making progress, excellent! I have a friend building with Burbank up here on the Gold Coast and she has had a great experience so far. I really, really wanted to go with them because their sales consultant here is a minor NZ celebrity (and I'm from NZ originally) but we just couldn't find a plan that worked for us in the end. Hopefully everything goes smoothly for you! So far we've been the "difficult" ones changing plans several times etc.. but our consultant was very understanding. Two weeks to go before we see any action. Very exciting. Can't wait to post pics of the build.. Stay tuned. Re: Burbank Build 2015 17Mar 29, 2015 2:00 pm We changed plans 3 times so I know what you mean, it has to work for the land and budget. Sounds like you sales man is a champ and changing plans is no issue, ours was the same. Bugger about the clay, they will do some piering to fix that. Fingers crossed you have some plans back within two weeks and then the selections. Fun times a head.
