Well we have been in the house for almost 3 weeks now! I can't believe how quick it goes by. We have started preparing the front for landscaping, and got council approval to pave the verge and only have a little bit of grass behind the letterbox. We are not Gardeners and want to keep nice and tidy, but super easy. Here are some pics of the prep. We are going to Pave in the next 2 weeks, the grass probably won't go down until mid January as they are booked out until Xmas. I can't wait to get rid of the dirt as with the wind we are constantly cleaning the floors as it blows right through the screens! We still haven't painted as I can't decide on a colour. But I am leaning towards 3 quarter strength Centurion as it looks like a light silver on the wall. We've also made plans for the back yard and are hoping to get that started during the Xmas break if we can both get some time off work! Hope you are enjoying your new home Re: Aussie Living - Singleton, WA ~ We have KEYS! 883Dec 03, 2015 9:11 pm Absolutely loving it! I can't stop smiling now that I have settled in and relaxing a bit. The first 2 weeks were busy trying to get the rental in order and handed over and unpacking, so it's a bit of a blur hahaha My topic thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76249&start=20#p1316378 Re: Aussie Living - Singleton, WA ~ We have KEYS! 884Dec 05, 2015 11:06 pm What a good idea to have the verge paved then you don't have to worry about watering it either! So happy to hear you're happy and settled in - it looks lovely Re: Aussie Living - Singleton, WA ~ We have KEYS! 885Jan 12, 2016 11:53 pm Yay - great to hear your moving in story - it gives the rest of us still struggling along hope!!! We have been in since the 18th November, and we haven't stopped since~ As soon as the front is done I will add some pics to this blog. We still havent painted but we figure that is not that important right now and we have loads of other things we want to spend our money on like backyard landscaping, a shed and a fireplace! Its all happening! Dont get too down, the last few months really seem to drag out, once you are in you totally forget all the drama and are just so happy to be finally in My topic thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76249&start=20#p1316378 Re: Aussie Living - Singleton, WA ~ We have KEYS! 888Jan 27, 2016 2:18 am Oh - from your lips to Gods ears!!! How is everyone going! I really dropped off the radar once we moved in, as you all probably know it gets pretty hectic, especially with Christmas holidays thrown in! Our front landscaping still hasnt been done! We have a voucher from Total Eden and they are so slow and a pain to deal with, they are telling us what we can have (a choice of 2 designs) instead of us being able to spend the voucher on what WE WANT Grrrrr so about that! Im due to have them out on the 22nd thats if I have finished fighting with them for a better deal for the $2500 than what they are offering. I ordered my fireplace on the 26/12/15 , we finally pick it up on Thursday and will have it installed asap. We still have not painted hahaha. But, we haven't come across any problems with the house other than we chose the absolute wrong carpet! If anyone is reading this and considering choosing black carpet DONT! Its awful and I vacuum at least twice a day every single day because it looks dirty all of the time! I will go and catch up with some of your threads! My topic thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76249&start=20#p1316378 Re: Aussie Living - Singleton, WA ~ We have KEYS! 890Feb 09, 2016 9:21 pm Welcome back Gypsy! Thats frustrating about the carpets Are they black or like a dark grey/charcoal? Vacuuming once a week is enough for me, it must be driving you crazy! hahaha Do you mind if I ask what total eden are offering you? PM me if you like. I have it all planned out in my head for what I want from them so they damn well better do it...the voucher doesnt stipulate that only 2 designs can be chosen from!! But they dated the change from the 15th Jan, anyone who had put their voucher in before then has to stick to either of the 2 designs. You can see both of the designs on the Vista's website under builders resources tab, just look for the contemporary or native designs and you can download the pdfs, they are very very basic. My issue is we have cut our front in half as we are paving the bottom bit, so we have a very small area to put retic and lawn in. I have asked for a better grass and some soil to be put down under the turf as they dont normally do that, they normally just plonk it straight onto the sand with some dynamic lifter pellets under it, I dont want to get this work done on the voucher and then have to have it all done again later because it was done so shoddily from the beginning. Heaps of people have said they do not even want to use Total Eden as they are going to have to pay to fix it down the track anyway My topic thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76249&start=20#p1316378 Re: Aussie Living - Singleton, WA ~ We have KEYS! 892Feb 14, 2016 7:55 pm I was always a little worried that total eden would offer very little and also do a crappy job since it was all been done via a voucher...guess I had good reason to be! Those plans are VERY basic, I'm having palmetto laid in the backyard so I want to match it and my layout is quite different to their standard plan anyway. I have no idea how in the hell they believe they can lay turf straight on sand with no soil AND come out with their reputation in tact Surely with your lawn and retic been half the size of the standard, they could upgrade your lawn and lay some soil to compensate!
