Here's a drawing of it (apologies for the poor attempt at using paint), here is their retaining wall and the proposed fence that hasn't been put up yet along with our proposed retaining wall):
http://imgur.com/vI6zFZY I've probably used the wrong terminology (our first build), we're above and they're at the bottom. They've put their retaining wall just within the fence line and in doing so has softened up some of our land on the fence line, making it unusable and we've had to move our retaining wall an extra 20cm away from the fence line. Hopefully this makes more sense. Re: WWYD - Neighbour cut into our land for their retaining w 5Mar 06, 2015 11:24 am I don't get it either. if your neighbor has build retaining wall, why do u have to build another retaining wall on your side? If you have to build retaining wall and you have enough space, you should build at 50-60 cm now so that u can use that area for veg or garden patch. Re: WWYD - Neighbour cut into our land for their retaining w 9Mar 06, 2015 3:19 pm considering the neighbours dont have a crystal ball to know your block would be cut and filled, they would have retained up to or just above natural ground level, so really unavoidable IMO, but would have been the same drama for them if you had built first, that's why I think you need to cop it on the chin and find a suitable solution, like you have tried and chalk it up to experience Re: WWYD - Neighbour cut into our land for their retaining w 10Mar 06, 2015 3:28 pm steevo considering the neighbours dont have a crystal ball to know your block would be cut and filled, they would have retained up to or just above natural ground level, so really unavoidable IMO, but would have been the same drama for them if you had built first, that's why I think you need to cop it on the chin and find a suitable solution, like you have tried and chalk it up to experience I wouldn't have thought they needed a crystal ball to know not to damage and build into somebody elses land. Re: WWYD - Neighbour cut into our land for their retaining w 12Mar 06, 2015 3:44 pm steevo true, so how far into your land did they excavate? I'd say the bottom cement part of their retaining wall is 20cm into our property, along the whole fence line. Re: WWYD - Neighbour cut into our land for their retaining w 13Mar 06, 2015 4:59 pm I think we may just have to suck it up and try and work with the 30cm gap the best way we can. Maybe we can try and grow some shrubs in there to help hide the gap? A person needs to be licensed to offer financial advice.
