Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Burns Beach Build with Dale Alcock - PreStart Done! 21Apr 14, 2015 9:26 pm Looks like some great selections at pre start - we've chosen a similar colour scheme to you - I will start a thread soon, waiting on my final plans. We added a waterfall edge to our bench with no issue at all a couple of weeks ago, how weird they are saying it's structural for you Our Custom Dale Alcock build in the Village at Wellard https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78620 Re: Burns Beach Build with Dale Alcock - PreStart Done! 22Apr 22, 2015 4:52 pm Well we have our costings back!
Only $5000 over budget too - much better than we thought! Only downside is they wont let us do a stacking door to the living room, which we definitely wanted. We are quite disappointed as it was something we 100% wanted and thought was easy enough to do and they will not budge despite numerous emails and phone calls. On the upside - we got the waterfall edge Has anyone had a large rendered letterbox with Chrome Faceplate with Street Name/Number on it done? If so, what did it end up costing you? We have had a price for a letterbox as per the Abbey Road Display in Burns Beach but want to know if it will be a great saving doing ourselves? We have been quoted $3000 including engraving/large faceplate and 3m wide by 7 brick courses high letterbox (rendered and painted). We are also doing the following ourselves now after getting the keys: - Blinds and Curtains - Timber Floors (Through Touch of Class Joondalup) - Skirting Boards Throughout - Downlights and Feature Light to the Entry - Up Down Lights at front of house Anyone want any pricing for their own pre start planning, feel free to PM me and I will help out where I can. Re: Burns Beach Build with Dale Alcock - PreStart Done! 23Apr 22, 2015 4:55 pm Also, who has Foxtel in Burns Beach? If so, is yours cable or Satellite? I thought the area was all cable but have seen a few Satellite Dishes on the roofs as I drive through the estate. Thanks Re: Burns Beach Build with Dale Alcock - PreStart Done! 24Apr 22, 2015 4:58 pm do your skirting boards need painting? it.just seems a faff to have to get skirting done after the build. is that what u need to do if u do timber flooringyourself? Re: Burns Beach Build with Dale Alcock - PreStart Done! 25Apr 22, 2015 5:02 pm We are getting the pre finished Skirting Boards so they don't require painting. Yes because we are doing the timber floors after we would have to do the skirting after too as far as I know. I have seen a couple of other builds on here that used the pre finished skirting that was installed afterwards and it looks good! Re: Burns Beach Build with Dale Alcock - PreStart Done! 26Apr 22, 2015 11:18 pm Hi Herbie, that is great news about your prestart costings and great news for the waterfall edge:) We had to make sure we had all our door sizes and window sizes correct before signing anything because we knew they probably wouldn't budge on these things after signing! That is a real shame you can't have your stacker doors, would they not let you at least do a variation?? We are wanting the chrome face plate too but I haven't yet looked into it. I will let you know when we do, good to get a few different prices Re: Burns Beach Build with Dale Alcock - PreStart Done! 27Apr 23, 2015 1:56 am We had our letterbox with stainless faceplate done with DH. Not as big as yours but we had twin units. I'll see if I can dig up our addenda and find the pricing for you Herbie. Re: Burns Beach Build with Dale Alcock - PreStart Done! 28Apr 23, 2015 11:55 pm Hi Herbie, That price for letterbox seems pretty good fully rendered, painted and face plate. Also then it's one less tradie to deal with after handover. One thing I found is it's so much easier to get builder to do as much as possible than trying to co-ordinate trades afterwards and also exposing yourself to potential dodge trades. This is just my experience and opinion. However if you did need a number I know a great brickie who built our letterbox and wall. Also for others looking for a faceplate I did a fair bit of research and everyone quoted $500/600 but found a place called Action Laser Cutting was by far cheapest - $130 and we had a large plate. I know a few people who have used them with positive feedback. Also no cable foxtel in burns. Re: Burns Beach Build with Dale Alcock - PreStart Done! 29Apr 24, 2015 12:09 am $3000 seems a lot for just a letter box! Also Herbie we had someone build a very basic base for our pizza oven at our house we are at now and they charged us $2000. This was the best quote we had. It only took them a day to do but it seemed this was the going daily rate that a brickie wanted. Re: Burns Beach Build with Dale Alcock - PreStart Done! 32Apr 24, 2015 10:01 pm Thanks for the replies. We have had the letterbox design re modified to be 4 courses higher and not quite as long - it has come in just under $3000 now, which we are happy with and will probably go ahead with. That pizza oven sounds tempting too Jelbell - something I have always wanted to do! Re: Burns Beach Build with Dale Alcock - PreStart Done! 33Apr 25, 2015 7:31 pm We were allowed to change from a 2 fixed panel/1 sliding door to a 2 sliding stacker doors/1 fixed panel at pre start, there was no change to the overall window side though. Would yours have meant putting a bigger window/door in? We got a DIY woodfire oven kit from a place in freo, and will be doing the same thing (maybe a bigger one) in our new home. Defiantly worth it and is great for entertaining!!! Re: Burns Beach Build with Dale Alcock - We Have A Sign! 35Apr 27, 2015 2:20 pm So, I drove past our block today and....we have a sign!! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Very quick progression since we only sign building contracts around 4 weeks ago, and we haven't settled on the block yet! Did anyone else see anything change on their site this early in the progress or are we just progressing incredibly quickly??? Nonetheless - happy to see progress, even if it is in the form of a cardboard sign Re: Burns Beach Build with Dale Alcock - We Have A Sign! 36Apr 27, 2015 9:22 pm Not that quick Herbie!!! I feel excited for you!! Know how that sign feels! Looks like they are wanting to get straight into it!! So exciting when there is something new on the block! Re: Burns Beach Build with Dale Alcock - We Have A Sign! 37May 06, 2015 6:11 pm OK - looking like pre start is going to be finalised tomorrow and our land has also settled on Monday meaning things are really motoring along! We have changed our kitchen colours slightly, now just doing the Gesso Lini Sheen where the bar stools will sit on the front of the kitchen bench. Due to the timber floors we didn't want a huge amount of contrasting timber look - we are now doing all underbench cupboards in classic white sheen too. After a lot of back and forth we are now taking the wardrobe fitout out of the pre start contract as pricing at first glance seemed very comparable to Lifestyle Wardrobes WA, but when we factored in the Dales didn't do soft closing drawers, and that we had no option to change drawer and cupboard handles we have gone back to Lifestyle who have been great and are very well prices like-for-like! Re: Burns Beach Build with Dale Alcock - We Have A Sign! 38May 06, 2015 8:53 pm Sounds like everything is falling into place very nicely for you! That feature where the bar stools are will look really nice Didn't realise that about DA customs! Didn't even think to ask those questions! Everyone that goes through Lifestyle seems very happy! Sounds like everything will be happening for you on site really soon! Re: Burns Beach Build with Dale Alcock - We Have A Sign! 39May 24, 2015 9:27 pm We now have a tap!!!!! And also, final drawings are back for the house. We are stoked with everything, however we have a problem. We are ubsure where to place our TV points in the living room. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The builder has placed them central in between the wall and the sliding door, however we are unsure if this will look weird with the games room door there, and will look out of alignment? Below is an overall view of the house. It is the living room TV points and conduit that we are discussing. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We are unsure due to not knowing exact furniture requirements for the room yet, and we also don't want it to look out of whack with the dining room table etc if we place it incorrectly. Feedback and advice would be more welcomed! Re: Burns Beach Build with Dale Alcock - We have a tap! And 40May 25, 2015 9:10 pm Congratulations on the tap!! How exciting, you will be seeing some movement on the block real soon! I think I would ask to have the points central between the door and the sliders, rather than the wall and the sliders. You might find it will look better for aesthetic reasons, and will make it easier for you to position your couch if you do choose to put one directly facing that wall Render your bathroom walls, two opinions versus the one, makes you wonder. 3 6023 The spacing of the studs looks pretty large especially for a load bearing wall. 3 11059 Nope, only on the inside, I've literally has my ears to the brick outside and can't hear anything. I can sort of 'reset' the noise by pressing firmly on the studs. This… 10 11701 |
