Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Burns Beach Build with Dale Alcock - We have Walls!!! 84Nov 11, 2015 5:34 pm We had our tiler meeting this morning. On track for PCI on December 18th. The only issue that popped up is we have spoon drains included not soakwells, despite having the conversation about placement with our pre start girl. Burns Beach residents - have you added these in? If so what did they cost and did you DIY? They are suggesting spoon drains are more than adequate for the area, however we are not so sure... Thanks Re: Burns Beach Build with Dale Alcock - We have Walls!!! 85Nov 11, 2015 6:40 pm Great news about PCI date! At the time we built with dales we had soak wells as standard included with our build. I am surprised to hear this has now been changed. Re: Burns Beach Build with Dale Alcock - We have Walls!!! 86Nov 11, 2015 6:52 pm We only just found out about a month or two ago that soakwells are not included, we just assumed they were included in the build. We will be getting ours done after we get the keys, has been a bit annoying though as it is an expense we didn't allow for. I have heard some horror stories with spoon drains and them not being enough with paving collapsing around the down pipes etc. Congrats on the PCI date, your build seems to have flown up! Burns Beach Build with Dale Alcock - We have Walls!!! 87Nov 11, 2015 9:51 pm With Dales, they go with the minimum council requirements. If soak wells are not mandatory, then Dales only provides spoon drains, with soak wells as an optional upgrade. Unfortunately it does not look like clients are being informed that soak wells are being offered as an upgrade. I found out that I was only getting spoon drains because I happened to read it in the addenda, and then asked for an upgrade to soak wells. Re: Burns Beach Build with Dale Alcock - We have Walls!!! 88Nov 11, 2015 10:00 pm Hi Herbie- we are getting soak wells with homegroup and I think it's around $2500. Not sure how many that includes. We were going to do it ourselves but then couldn't be bothered- I'm sure you could get them done pretty cheap if you did them yourselves. Mon Re: Burns Beach Build with Dale Alcock - We have Walls!!! 89Nov 20, 2015 9:23 pm Herbie - have you seen the homeless guy again since this date 31 Oct? The police are door knocking tonight as he has gone missing on this date? Thanks Re: Burns Beach Build with Dale Alcock - We have Walls!!! 90Nov 20, 2015 9:35 pm +Tbrown2012 Herbie - have you seen the homeless guy again since this date 31 Oct? Can I ask who you went through to do your exposed aggregate? I love the colour! Mon Hi Mon, Yes despite my slackness in upgrading progress shots, our handover date is Jan 22nd! Looking forward to it - pre handover inspection brought up a couple of minor issues - one splash back panel needs replacing and a couple of French door glass panels - otherwise mostly paint related I think. The aggregate came out great! DAH own concretus and I think that's who does it - the colour is "Oyster Cream" Any idea how far away your home is from site now? It's good to see houses starting to go up around us now - we will be lonely on the street for a few months yet I think! I think we"re still 8 weeks away from a slab. Our plans didn't get approved by the developer, so they had to redraw and widen our frontage. (Who would have thought you could be too far away from your neighbour?!) I can't believe there will be 3 home group homes right next to each other! We have kept a close eye on next doors build though and it's looking really good so far- hopefully it'll be smooth sailing for us once we finally start! Thanks for the aggregate details- I wonder if they source to outside public. I'll have to look them up and see. Goodluck with handover and the move! Mon Re: Burns Beach Build with Dale Alcock - We have Walls!!! 94Jan 07, 2016 10:14 am That is great news Herbie! Your build has gone by really fast. Glad there were only minor issues. Hope handover goes well for you Render your bathroom walls, two opinions versus the one, makes you wonder. 3 6062 The spacing of the studs looks pretty large especially for a load bearing wall. 3 11119 Nope, only on the inside, I've literally has my ears to the brick outside and can't hear anything. I can sort of 'reset' the noise by pressing firmly on the studs. This… 10 11772 |
