Who are you building with can I ask? We are in a similar situation... our tender expiry was in April 2016 however Firstyle Homes have extended to June for 'good faith' but we still haven't heard anything from the certifier. So it definitely not our fault as we had finished all our plans before June but I am not sure if they will extend it again. Any one else have any experience with the tender going past the expiry? Do the builder normally charge you even if it is out of your control and are still waiting on the approval? Yes, the builder can charge you even if it's out of your control, it's money and they are allowed to. And they can pretty much do whatever they want, either you accept or walk away from all the money and time you invested. They can add a percentage to the total build cost or they can charge you a monthly penalty fee. This is why some builders offer an option to lock in the price for a fee (I've heard about $10,000). I'm paying $500 a month which is pretty kind considering my previous builder Ichijo wanted $1,750 a month before they sold my contract. Re: Village Square Stage 14 & 15 Edmondson Park 393Jun 19, 2016 11:49 pm aaac Anyone else thinking they'll never do this again?? Yep, I'm planning on being buried in the backyard of this place. I want nothing to do with building or real estate again. Re: Village Square Stage 14 & 15 Edmondson Park 394Jun 19, 2016 11:52 pm Nug My tender has been expired since August last year. It's all so foreign and scary at times for us. First home builders and no one in our family with much knowledge with it :/ Re: Village Square Stage 14 & 15 Edmondson Park 397Jun 20, 2016 9:22 pm Fluffyjonz Oliver1989G Who are you building with can I ask? I've contacted my builder Firstyle Homes regarding the expired tender, they said they will review each case individually and assess timeframes that we had accepted and signed our past documents. So I guess if they review and think that we took a while to sign and accept tender documents they may still charge us. Which I think is still unfair as we still signed every document before the tender expiry and we have been waiting for weeks for our final plans from this private certifier.
