I saw your post about wall length shower niches and had a look through your build thread. I love your colour selections! The wood look tile is lovely! Our builder is telling us we can't do the wall length niche because of waterproofing. He was excited to do it earlier so I'm a little gutted. The ensuite shower is the one part of the house we're sinking money into so I feel it's important. Do you have any photos of how yours will look? What height did you choose? Has your builder mentioned possible problems with waterproofing? My build thread: Building our first home in the Ascot Estate Pakenham - East West Homes viewtopic.php?t=77799 Hi there, No our builder hasnt mentioned that to us at all and we have seen it done before so thats strange! Although maybe VIC has different regulations to QLD. I think our niche is 1.2m high. You can see here in this photo... (Not a very good one) of the full length niche on the back wall. They are plastering next week so we'll be able to get a better picture of it then. http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/Mobile%20Uploads/image.jpg 30/01/15 - Land Settlement 07/04/15 - Contract & colour selections 05/05/15- Council approval 28/05/15 - Site start Build Thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76068 Re: Plantation Homes QLD - Soho - WINDOWS, ROUGHINS, BRICK P 43Jul 18, 2015 6:39 pm Brickies started a day later than expected but they caught up quickly and completely finished the bottom level this morning! First Saturday work done on our house... Scaffold has been delievered ready to be installed Monday then for them to continue bricks Tuesday. Our plaster boards have been sitting in the house since Monday so hopefully they start this week. http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/Mobile%20Uploads/image_1.jpg http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/Mobile%20Uploads/image_2.jpg http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/Mobile%20Uploads/image_3.jpg http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/Mobile%20Uploads/image_4.jpg http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/Mobile%20Uploads/image_5.jpg 30/01/15 - Land Settlement 07/04/15 - Contract & colour selections 05/05/15- Council approval 28/05/15 - Site start Build Thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76068 Plantation Homes QLD - Soho 4 - Bricks 44Jul 18, 2015 10:55 pm Wow so much progress! Thanks for the info about the niche. I spoke to my builder about it again today, and told him it was important to me, so it's back in! He's going to slope the floor of the niche away from the wall slightly to stop the water pooling, and said he'll do the membrane very carefully to make sure wr don't get leaking. Bricks were completed last week as was the installation of all the plaster boards. Plaster was 'set' on Monday and cladding and downpipes were completed yesterday. I haven't got photos yet of the completed cladding but coming soon! We've got the painters in today doing undercoats and our stairs are being installed some stage next week. We've got a meeting on site towards the end of next week with our supervisor so I'm hoping to get an indication of handover then.. Hopefully September sometime. http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/Complete%20Bricks%20and%20Cladding.jpg Completed bricks (no cladding) http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/Cladding.jpg Start of the cladding (now finished). Cladding is being painted a mocha/coffee/light brown colour. Our render will be mocha/coffee (down post handover). http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/Living%20Plaster%20Set.jpg Living Room http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/Plaster%20Set%20Kitchen%20Window.jpg Kitchen http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/Garage%20House%20Set.jpg Garage http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/Hallway%20Plaster%20SEt.jpg Downstairs Hallway 30/01/15 - Land Settlement 07/04/15 - Contract & colour selections 05/05/15- Council approval 28/05/15 - Site start Build Thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76068 Re: Plantation Homes QLD - Soho 4 - Bricks 48Jul 29, 2015 12:11 pm Looking good EmKaralyn! Your SS might not give you much info tho...Some are more communicative than others Our SS is Emily, she only looks after houses in this area apparently. Yes we originally thought October but given we are getting so much done by external companies/ourselves after handover (rendering, carpet, bamboo, driveway, fencing, decks, landscaping, WIR, installation of light fittings) we're hoping sometime mid - late September. At frame stage our SS said vaguely October sometime but I'll pick her brain next week given we aren't really subject to weather anymore. 30/01/15 - Land Settlement 07/04/15 - Contract & colour selections 05/05/15- Council approval 28/05/15 - Site start Build Thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76068 Re: Plantation Homes QLD - Soho 4 - Bricks 50Jul 29, 2015 12:23 pm Yeah, fingers crossed she gives you an update Jen (& Dave) Plantation Bronte, Ormeau Ridge, Gold Coast QLD 12/03/2015 - Commencement... 26/08/2015 - Handover! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76446 Re: Plantation Homes QLD - Soho 4 - Cabinets! 51Aug 14, 2015 2:16 pm Hi All, It's been a while since the last update but lots has happened: *Outside completely finished *Our full timber staircase installed *Plaster all finished *Waterproofing complete *All cabinets installed *And today they are putting in all the doors, including the front door and the skirtings. Next week we've been told will be tiling and painting - getting super close now... We picked up our bamboo flooring on Monday and put it next to our cabinets yesterday and we're having second thoughts... they'll let us exchange it so we're going back today to get samples of other colours.... What do people think of the floor against the cabinets? We have a plank next to the cabinet below. We originally wanted a light timber colour but it's so expensive for timber and we aren't a fan of laminate. And we're just waiting on two quotes from renders to get back to us....they take so long with quotes! http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/Bottom%20of%20Stairs.jpg http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/Stairs.jpg http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/Top%20of%20Stairs.jpg http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/Kitchen%20Cab.jpg http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/Butlers%20Pantry.jpg http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/Bathroom%20Vanity.jpg http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/Laundry%20Cab.jpg http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/Ensuite%20Vanity.jpg http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/Kitchen%20Draws.jpg 30/01/15 - Land Settlement 07/04/15 - Contract & colour selections 05/05/15- Council approval 28/05/15 - Site start Build Thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76068 Re: Plantation Homes QLD - Soho 4 - Cabinets! 52Aug 14, 2015 7:01 pm Great progress EmKaralyn! We ended up picking up 7 samples on Friday and finally chose something that is much lighter and fits with our colour scheme. Flooring is such a hard choice! Yeh that's fair enough. We still have to put our deposit down for our carpet upstairs but we're just going to wait until we get an approximate handover date (which is hopefully next week when we have a site meeting with SS) since carpet court doesn't need a lot of notice. 30/01/15 - Land Settlement 07/04/15 - Contract & colour selections 05/05/15- Council approval 28/05/15 - Site start Build Thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76068 Re: Plantation Homes QLD - Soho 4 - Cabinets! 59Aug 19, 2015 11:26 am Yeah I didn't want the hassle of trying to organise ourselves after handover either We'll just leave it for now and see how unhappy we are.
