Have been looking on these forums for a while now and have finally got our house designs and thought I would put them up to get ideas/suggestions on anything else we can change? Following along we just finished building in Millbridge Re: Stoneleigh build in Millbridge 3Feb 18, 2015 5:00 pm Welcome Kait-e, wow wow wow so love your plans!! We have recently built a combination Stoneleigh/Archipelago but just love what you have done with the floorplan. We had seriously considered putting the raked ceiling into our plan - can't wait to see how that turns out. Also love all the space you have outside and sliding door on both sides of the living areas. Your home is going to be great!! Also love your idea of swopping the toilet with WIL to create a powder room. Looking forward to following your build Re: Stoneleigh build in Millbridge 4Feb 18, 2015 6:08 pm Thanks Tbrown We loved the archipelago as well, unfortunately we wanted the alfresco on the west side and the garage had to be on the left corner (because its a corner block) so it couldn't work for us! I loved your plans, how you walk through to the kitchen from the garage and your photos look amazing! You have styled your home beautifully Re: Dale Alcock Stoneleigh build in Millbridge 5Feb 18, 2015 6:47 pm Wow, that all looks a bit fabulous! Love the master suite with its window alcove and the wee entrance to it. Good work making your fridge recess deeper and making that loo a powder room. Your raking ceiling is going to look spectacular! I'm a big kitchens person, so my only suggestions would be to enclose your 4 shelves in the larder with a laminate pantry in a similar fashion to what Butterbing has. Good luck with it all! I love what you have done with the WIL to put a powder room in that is a great idea. Love the whole layout it is going to look fabulous!! All the best and I look forward to following your build. How exciting Re: Dale Alcock Stoneleigh build in Millbridge 7Feb 19, 2015 10:58 pm Hi Kait-e Congrats on starting your build. Plan looks great and I'm sure is going to be an unbelievable home for you once finished. Can only see a couple of small things I'd potentially change. 1. The larder door I would switch 180 degree so it opens away from where you would potentially be walking towards with any food etc rather than have to walk around the door. 2. I'd extend the laundry bench to the end of laundry and put in a hinged door and window above bench instead of double slider. 3. Extend ensuite and main bathroom benches to showers to eliminate gap (hard to clean) 4. Are you able to put your garage on boundary to better use the extra 1m width on the Alfresco side of the backyard? (though you may want the alternative access rather than walking bins through the garage perhaps) 5. Closing in the pantry shelves is a good idea as W2T suggested but it depends on what look your after. (Been tossing up this idea myself) 6. Is thre any way you could extend theatre room out to edge of eave. You'll lose a little bit of your garage but I think the space in the theatre room with fire place would be more valuable. Its a great plan though and can't wait to see it develop. Is your fireplace going to be double sided? Good luck Re: Dale Alcock Stoneleigh build in Millbridge 8Feb 19, 2015 11:12 pm Wow love your plans!! Nice sized block too! Looking forward to seeing this progress Re: Dale Alcock Stoneleigh build in Millbridge 9Feb 20, 2015 9:50 am Great plan! your house is going to be HUGE!! I hadn't even thought about the larder door, we have another meeting on monday so will see about all these things My husband wants the 1m off the garage so he has more room in the back corner for a shed but we are having an open courtyard area off the living so we will still be using that side of the block as well. We aren't able to extend the theatre room as the living needs to be out further structurally for the raked ceilings but I have always be concerned that the room is a little small! Fireplace is one sided and will have built in wall to ceiling bookshelves either side of it Re: Dale Alcock Stoneleigh build in Millbridge 11May 18, 2015 11:27 am hi kait-e - any updates? Dying to see how this plan comes together Re: Dale Alcock Stoneleigh build in Millbridge 12May 18, 2015 6:09 pm Hey Tbrown, Things have been a bit slow as we have been on holidays! Had our first pre start meeting just before we went away and final contracts have come out so just looking over them thoroughly as site works have come in at $18,000 for a class A site! Re: Dale Alcock Stoneleigh build in Millbridge 13May 18, 2015 7:01 pm Hope you enjoyed your holidays! Can't wait to see all your selections from prestart. How exciting that you have the contracts! Should see some things happening on your block really soon! Re: Dale Alcock Stoneleigh build in Millbridge 15Jun 02, 2015 11:14 pm Plan looks great, you have a decent sized lot and the alfresco area will look amazing! It has been forever since I've done any updating so thought I would fill you all in! We have lost a lot of momentum because we've had so much trouble selling the house we are currently in (which needs to happen before the big build) but in the last week we finally had our pre start meeting!! We still need to go back and go though the final costings of all the things we chose as we had to go away and get more information on the fireplace we want to install and did some more research into tap ware as we couldn't decide on the day! Of course I forgot to take a picture of all the finishes we chose and now I am second guessing them all! Hoping to get down and get it all back together in the next few days so I can put a picture up and get some input. The floor plan has changed slightly as well, still a bit unsure about the laundry set up... Sorry about the picture quality it was taken on my phone Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Dale Alcock Stoneleigh build in Millbridge 17Sep 04, 2015 1:55 am I like that you added storage and extended your dressing room that works much better as it was just empty space before. Hope you sell your house soon so you can get the build underway Re: Dale Alcock Stoneleigh build in Millbridge 18Sep 04, 2015 2:50 am belzey I like that you added storage and extended your dressing room that works much better as it was just empty space before. Hope you sell your house soon so you can get the build underway We felt the same belzey, it looks lovely in the display but just not practical. We are getting a cabinet maker after handover to make a school bag/ drop zone like this in the 'store' Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Dale Alcock Stoneleigh build in Millbridge 19Sep 04, 2015 8:53 am So glad to see you back on here. I so love what you have done with the floorplan. My fav is the extra sliding doors and raking! super jealous of your fireplace too, I am still saying that is my one regret not putting a fireplace in somewhere! Love the store idea! We have created a similar set up at the back of our office on a smaller scale with hooks and storage box under for shoes. We also have a monthly chalkboard calendar above. All that storage in yours will be great. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Just wondering why you switched your bedroom 4 window position? Really looking forward to your selections and seeing your build start! Good luck with the house sale Re: Dale Alcock Stoneleigh build in Millbridge 20Sep 04, 2015 11:24 am +Tbrown2012 Just wondering why you switched your bedroom 4 window position? Really looking forward to your selections and seeing your build start! Good luck with the house sale Hi Tbrown, it's good to be back though it took a while to catch up on everyone's builds! We changed the window to the back as the other wall will get all the afternoon sun which is ok through winter but gets pretty horrible in summer as we have found out in our current house. Quick question for everyone would you choose warm white down lights or cool white? I always thought warm white but the lady from pre start said we should definitely go cool white as it's better for task lighting? Very unsure, think I might be changing a fair bit in our follow up meeting. Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 8 17190 1000000% definitely add insulation. I have in my home and it makes a big difference minimising sound transfer. Insulation is pretty cheap and definitely worth it 2 6148 Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15840 |
