Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 16, 2015 12:10 am Hi everyone, so we are building a new home in Bicton, WA. Right now we are building with National Homes, but it has been 6 months and we have not even signed a contract yet, just the provisional - so slow ..... Anyway, todays query relates to our external colour choices. Really I am keen on a red brick finish, most likely Minilya by Brikmakers, with a Surfmist (white) colorbond roof. Window frame colours also likely to be white. But this is where I get stuck. What colours for the gutters, or fascias, or front door. I have done some searching on this site, and google, but I have not found hardly any pics of red brick houses with a white roof. I guess it isn't very traditional. So if anyone has any pics of houses with a red brick white roof combo and are willing to share please post them up? I am trying to get some ideas on how it all might look. One idea I have is to perhaps run with white fascias to match the eaves and window frames, but then add a contrast colour like maybe a Colorbond Jasper or Woodland Grey to the gutters and to the front door (tho front door frame to stay white). And then for the garage door, probably have it surfmist like the roof. Or course it is kinda hard to visualise all this, so if anyone has a pic to share, I would love to see it. Many thanks Tim Re: Red Bricks, white roof ..... 2Feb 19, 2015 7:17 pm Here's a link to the Colourbond visualiser, have a play. It lets you pick gutter and fascias as well. Our little investment (yet to be built) is red brick with white grout and a shale grey roof....surfmist gutters and fascia. Haven't decided on the garage door yet but might be shale grey as well. http://colorbond.autech.com.au/onlinevisualiser/ Re: Red Bricks, white roof ..... 4Feb 20, 2015 12:14 am Thanks for the replies. I will give the visualiser a try, tho I think the homes it offers look generally too fancy to properly reflect a simple single story dwelling. Dannislade, what colours are you using and do you have any color sketches? Thanks again. Re: Red Bricks, white roof ..... 5Feb 20, 2015 10:55 am You can simplify by using the gutter and fascia elevations only...yes, I think they should revise some of the style homes they use on there too. Re: Red Bricks, white roof ..... 6Feb 20, 2015 1:21 pm i dont have any sketches, i just spent time with the colours i liked and looking at them in different light. if you go to brickmakers they will give you a sample to take home, they also have roof samples to use there so you get a idea of how it will look together. i choose fossil creek (drak grey) for my front door, gutters, fascia, finial and downpipes (garage door is surfmist), i did consider woodland grey but felt it looked green in some light which i didnt like. light plays a big part in how your colours are going to look, my surfmist roof in the morning looks white as the house front faces east but come afternoon it looks pale grey so i choose a darker colour for the gutters to make a feature of them. Tim look at the eco friendly josh Byrnes house just in Hilton. It has red bricks with white roof (from memory) and looks superb. http://joshshouse.com.au/about-the-project/josh-byrne/ Go for a driveby. It's griggs st, Hilton. West side of street at southern end.
