Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Haywards Bay East Point Estate 22Mar 28, 2015 2:55 pm Visited the land today. Although the fencing is still up along Deltaview Ave, the gate at the end is usually now always open. They have been working on the roadway, and you can now drive right around the bottom of Haywards Bay drive, at least upto the fence, without owning a 4WD. They have also begun to lay the freshwater pipes along Eastpoint Ave. Re: Haywards Bay East Point Estate 23Mar 28, 2015 7:54 pm That's great to hear that things are still progressing. Small steps will all lead us to our ultimate reward. Thanks for the update. Re: Haywards Bay East Point Estate 24Mar 31, 2015 10:44 pm Mrfunkyfish Hey Oz, Thanks for posting and congrats on the land purchase It is definitely a long process. Unfortunately our block is still not registered but I cannot imagine it being much longer. Why do you suspect August date would not be met? Any hold ups? We've had approximate costs from Clarendon and Wisdom. The cost was surprisingly high with all the additions we are looking at getting. I'll be meeting with a private builder that comes highly recommended to compare prices. Meeting booked for Tuesday next week. I did a door knock around the estate and spoke with some locals. They all love it and had no negatives so it's very exciting to be building in Haywards Bay. I will definitely keep posting any updates and I look forward to hearing more on your journey as well. Best of luck Hi FF, So have you had an update on when the land is registering? I have heard other people I know with a lot in Sunhaven have said they are not expecting towards the end of April. Also how did you go with your meetings with private builder? Have you come to any decisions as yet for the build? WE are still in a state of limbo. Am awaiting for Sunhaven and Eastpoint land to register, so have time on our side before we move along further in the process. Re: Haywards Bay East Point Estate 25Apr 08, 2015 8:57 pm Drove around Eastpoint today, and could see no development workers. No work going on at all. Their casual approach to getting the work finished puzzles me. If I were in their position I would be breaking my neck to finish and reap the rewards. Not them. Re: Haywards Bay East Point Estate 26Apr 25, 2015 8:28 am sorry for the delay in response. Yeah rego is taking some time. I have heard that council have recently put the approvals through and now it is with land and title office which can take 4-6 weeks. End of May might be an optimistic rego date. We will see. As far as designs go, I've drawn up our perfect floor plan and am in talks with a draftsman to get it drawn professionally. We've decided on private builder as it's much more flexible and with the amount of upgrades we want, Project home builders will flog us with price. How is the planning process for you Oz and Ally? p.s, it was comforting to know the massive rains recently had no flooding effects on the estate Re: Haywards Bay East Point Estate 27Apr 26, 2015 4:40 pm We have signed up with McDonald Jones, which we did last June, on the expectation, given to us by the land selling agent, that registration would occur in January of this year. Naturally that did not occur, so it is now costing us penalties. We have been through McDonald Jones selections studio, and finalised the finishing touches. We have yet to select the electricals. I think we may have been better off doing the same, finding an architect and independent builder, as there are a few things McDonald Jones can't supply, and they tend to charge like wounded bulls for additional items. Even so, the house is not perfectly laid out like we would want. Re: Haywards Bay East Point Estate 28Apr 26, 2015 6:12 pm We have a block in Stage 8, the final stage of the estate, so who knows when this land will register.... (we were originally told August 2015, so technically could still meet this ) We have spoken to project builders, but they just don't seem to be be able to maximise our block with their set designs and any variations is taking the cost into custom build levels. With that said we are now leaning towards a custom builder. We are currently speaking with two and awaiting some initial plans (after paying a small fee), hoping they are able to incorporate our ideas with their own experience and constraints. I am very much doubting that any tender will be signed before we receive notice of the land registering. Having said that, even though some people are having to pay penalties for the late land registration issues with their builders, builders increase their standard pricing anyways so at the end of the day, they always win. I however just don't feel comfortable signing a tender with the uncertainty around this developer and also Wollongong council. I still feel that both Stage 7 & 8 (particularly 8 ) are going to be held to ransom by the council, essentially ensuring that the developer has complied with all in the estate, prior to giving consent for land registration. Generally this is what happens with the last releases in an estate. Re: Haywards Bay East Point Estate 29May 01, 2015 1:09 pm Todays Image. This is from the Sth Eastern end of Haywards Bay Drive. Looks like they have commenced to add roadbase. Not much though. They have also installed lot connections to the freash water supply on Deltaview Ave. Naturally, not a workman to be seen today. I found the developers actually doing some progress work on the East Point section. They now have roadbase on all the roads. We have finally had a letter from solicitor informing us of registration on stage 5 last week! .... Finally some good news. Our Draftsman is due to complete our drawings tomorrow or Tuesday and our builder has organised surveys etc to take place asap. The train is finally on it's way! With any luck we should be in our new home early to mid 2016. Re: Haywards Bay East Point Estate 35May 18, 2015 8:17 pm Possibly, weather pending. Though our builder has given us a guide of 8 months build time. so maybe just after xmas. We'd prefer he take his time and do it properly lol The warning is on the sticker on the door too.
