Frame going up... 55Apr 23, 2015 7:19 pm I think you made the right decision on the roof profile, it's going to look great. Frame going up... 56Apr 28, 2015 5:40 pm Not much to update on the house front, work seems to have slowed down now that they are waiting for the roofing profile to be delivered. Wonder whose fault that is
So on a completely different tangent - We went shopping for some artwork on the weekend. We have a large, 4m by 3m wall at the top of our stairs / overlooking the void area that we wanted to get something large for. Mel is a fan of aboriginal art, specifically Jeannie and Gloria Petyarre. They are well known for acrylic on linen, either in a dot pattern or a leaves pattern. If you're interested, more information on Jeannie can be found here : http://www.kateowengallery.com/artists/ ... tyarre.htm This is the one we ended up buying, and is roughly 2m by 1.8m (one of the largest sizes that they do). Now we just have to figure out how to mount or frame it! http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff371/travispegg/MA2/artwork2_zpsefmkhmoe.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff371/travispegg/MA2/artwork_zpsufueoa6l.jpg And I don't think I have mentioned it on here before, but there was an old house that once sat on the block of land that we are building on (half on our side, half on the neighbours side). I got to know the seller a little bit before we bought it, and she gave me the original plans for the house when it was first built. They were old (obviously), in quite poor and fragile condition. I found a specialist framer who could preserve the old docs, got them mounted and framed, and picked them up this week. The old house as she stood for 70 years http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff371/travispegg/MA2/old%20house1_zps8dxf3eix.jpg and the original plans http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff371/travispegg/MA2/old%20plans_zpstpoyln14.jpg Will be displayed proudly in our new house to show the old and the new . Re: Custom small lot - Brisbane. Frame going up... 57Apr 28, 2015 5:47 pm That artwork is gorgeous, I'm going to check them out right now! Great idea with the plans too Sent from Tapatalk Jen (& Dave) Plantation Bronte, Ormeau Ridge, Gold Coast QLD 12/03/2015 - Commencement... 26/08/2015 - Handover! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76446 Re: Custom small lot - Brisbane. My build thread: Custom build on 40 acres viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75656 Re: Custom small lot - Brisbane. Frame going up... 59Apr 28, 2015 6:31 pm The artwork is stunning! Love the idea of framing plans too, though I think if I framed mine I'd just end up picking out all the mistakes! Re: Custom small lot - Brisbane. Frame going up... 60May 15, 2015 4:12 pm Ha Ha Trixie... if i framed the plans of this house I could look at them & go "that's not like that, changed that, moved that" etc etc. They never go up 100 % the way that you plan. So I have been a bit quiet in here for the last few weeks .. because there has really been nothing to report. We have had some issues with the scaffold - where it was going to encroach within a meter to my neighbours overhead power when it was up full height. Energex had to come out and inspect, which they said they would do "within 13 days. They came on the 13th day for all of 15 minutes and agreed / signed off on our solution so we could get moving again. Massive pain in the you know what from my point of view, but better than somebody ending up dead. The metal clad was delivered yesterday though along with the anticon blankets so I had a crane there this morning getting that up to the roof. Hopefully there will be a bit more activity now so that I can post a bit more! interesting situation what happened after builder issued final invoice? did you list as defect or not does the building surveyor have any responsibility? ie. issuing… 13 46966 Building Standards; Getting It Right!
