Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 08, 2015 1:29 pm We are planning to build a house in NSW and I want to get rid of the only bathtub in the house desig and put in a large shower instead. My friend and sales person suggested that for resale There should be at least one tub in the house. I was once lived in a house with pathtub to take shower. I never used the bath and I found it very diffucult to clean. I think, Families with kids can use bathtub but i thinks if there is wide shower then it is best to use plastic tub. Let me know your opinions. Thanks. Re: Is a house without a bathtub hard to sell in NSW? 2Feb 08, 2015 1:47 pm I had a hard time renting out a house in WA to families (and it was a family type home) due to it not having a bath tub. We've recently decided against purchasing an amazing 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom heritage listed house partly because it doesn't have a bathtub. Ultimately it's your house and you can do what you like, but if future resale is a consideration I think a bathtub is a must. Re: Is a house without a bathtub hard to sell in NSW? 4Feb 08, 2015 2:11 pm Do whatever you like with your house, but there would be no way I'd buy a house that did not have a bathtub. I'm sure I'm not the only one that would walk away from your house if you didn't have a bath tub in it. Owner Building at Jimboomba Woods in Logan City Qld. If I were to rent such house, maybe i could get away without bathtub. If I were to sell, I would surely have one. As this is my first time building and especially as a OB im excited. We are pretty close getting the Building permit and ready to start. I know it's a pain to have a bath if you don't use it. But I wouldn't buy a house without one. I felt this way even when having kids was a long way off as I love a bath too. It doesn't mean you can't sell the house but it will significantly reduce your ability to attract a large range of buyers. Can you move things around in the bathroom to make room for a larger shower? Re: Is a house without a bathtub hard to sell in NSW? 8Feb 09, 2015 11:22 am How long are you planning to live in the house before selling? Maybe you can leave room for a free-standing bathtub, even have the plumbing for it behind the wall & under the tiles; and then do a really minor bathroom renovation which adds the tub when it comes time to move out & sell? Re: Is a house without a bathtub hard to sell in NSW? 9Feb 10, 2015 2:03 pm I second what most here said. No bath tub is a turn off. Especially if i would have to renovate just to put one in. A bath tub was a must for us, especially as we have 3 young children. 1st Home Buyer Kristie AKA Krash Re: Is a house without a bathtub hard to sell in NSW? 10Feb 12, 2015 11:17 pm Thanks for your input @Frog , @Krash and @samsoft24. I am living close to beach. Just 500m walking. I just go and dip into very big pool . So I never interested in bathtub and for my daughter I used bath basin. Anyway I greatly aappreaciate your inputs. Re: Is a house without a bathtub hard to sell in NSW? 11Feb 12, 2015 11:19 pm Charlston01 Sorry wall-e, I agree.
