Plans look great and well thought out. Loving the front facade and all your windows!! Re: internal wardrobe doors i'm with you on this one about having opening doors instead of sliding. We have mirrored sliding ones at the moment and i hate them! I've broken 2 fingers on them trying to stop them banging into the end. I made sure we didn't have ANY sliding doors in the new place, including cavity sliders! Each to their own though. Looking forward to the next update Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=38&t=75302 Re: Custom home design - narrow block - please comment 22Jun 21, 2015 12:35 pm gandn Just found your original thread and hoping you continue it. Looking forward to the next update Hi gandn, I forgot I made my own topic earlier on in the year. So I'll just piggy back on it since I forgot how to post a new thread topic on tapatalk. Re: Custom home design - narrow block - please comment 23Jun 21, 2015 9:00 pm Hooray you have a thread after all, great floor plan. I really like the void at the front entry and the living spaces are great your kiddies will love all the space. Agree with gandn and yourself regarding the sliders they are extremely frustrating and you can only access half the robe at a time. We went opening doors too. Re: Custom home design - narrow block - please comment 24Jun 21, 2015 9:34 pm Haha, I do have a thread... I have time and motivation to feed my thread now since everything's approved. I'm usually breastfeeding when I'm on H1 and usually on my phone, (my youngest is only 9months). I don't remember how to change my topic title from my phone! I think I need to access via the computer, which I don't have time for, so topic titles not changed. Custom home design - narrow block - please comment 25Jun 21, 2015 9:42 pm Just read and watched this video, it's been forecasted for june/july/August that is will be dryer on the east coast! Yay! It takes that approval to fuel the desire to get the thread going hey. I'm normally feeding to when I'm on it, my youngest is 7 months. You have to change the thread title on your computer (I had to ask that question too). Have you done your colour selections yet? Custom home design Sydney - narrow block - DA Approved!!! 27Jun 22, 2015 8:36 pm Hey Tribe, we only got external colour selection done... kinda to satisfy council, we're not going via big builder so don't have luxury of a colour and selection centre, everything is going to happen on the fly, cos the builder is just him and his son... Top bloke, you will hopefully meet him as my thread and build develops. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75739&p=1299716#p1299716 Re: Custom home design Sydney - narrow block - DA Approved!! 28Jun 22, 2015 9:00 pm Damn council and all there questions. Least one colour selection is done. Oh nice my girlfriend completed a build the same way recently and her home is beautiful, she found it easier to select items at her own pace and hunt for the best prices, I love her kitchen she has her side by side fridge and freezer behind panels in the cabinetry. You will get far more bang for your buck being able to shop around. Can't wait to see your tapware choices (I think I have a issue with tapware ) Re: Custom home design Sydney - narrow block - DA Approved!! 29Jun 24, 2015 6:29 pm You have your own thread! Your plans are fantastic. I have laundry chute envy. Oh and the massive WIR! Lucky youCongratulations on DA approval. Looking forward to following your build. Can't wait to get my house back, hope we can move in by easter next year! That will be 2 years since we moved out! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75739&p=1299716#p1299716 Re: Custom home design Sydney - narrow block - DA Approved!! 31Jun 24, 2015 8:09 pm We've also been living with my parents for the past year. They have been amazing help and have spoilt us rotten (free daycare, free rent, no cooking/cleaning etc) But we are so over not having our own space! I'm sure your house is worth the wait Re: Custom home design Sydney - narrow block - DA Approved!! 32Jun 28, 2015 9:01 am +1 for not having your own space. My in-laws spend 4-6 months overseas each year and it still really frustrates me. I have to keep reminding myself of the positives though, which by far outweigh the negatives, and I thank them almost daily for their sacrifice as well. B4M3T gosh there are so many aspects of your floor plan that I love. I first walked on the Hebel power floor at the Felton display home in bells vista waters - I immediately noticed the difference! Unless I can be strongly convinced otherwise, I will be pushing for this too. And the laundry chute, I lived in a 2-storey house when growing up and craved one of them, so easy to take care of during a build but I find it a real PITA if you don't have one. A question or perhaps suggestion for you regarding your WCs - I am dealing with it at the in-laws' house right now where my legs bump and rub all over the toilet seat whenever I'm coming in or getting out because it's such a tight squeeze. I'm thinking a cavity slider entry would be a better design. Have you considered this? I would think also better for safety/access if someone were to collapse or faint inside. Hi jsmi, thanks for the heads up regarding toilet, I think I will need to consider it with the builder, it would be a big problem. I haven't been to that display place, but I'll be going to check it out this weekend! Thanks for the heads up again! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75739&p=1299716#p1299716 Re: Custom home design Sydney - narrow block - DA Approved!! 34Jul 01, 2015 11:46 am very thoughtful plan indeed, following your thread and build Custom home design Sydney - narrow block - DA Approved!!! 35Jul 01, 2015 10:33 pm Thanks Mirz! Would love your input once things get rolling! Still at the annoying part of planning and costing! Re: Custom home design Sydney - narrow block - DA Approved!! 36Jul 01, 2015 10:41 pm Uggh admin ... Yup, annoying as Re: Custom home design Sydney - narrow block - DA Approved!! 37Jul 05, 2015 9:56 pm Over the last week It's the crazy of school holiday and deep negotiations with the builder and my husband on the budget. The tender has been revised and we are way over budget by $100k. Mainly because we can't let go of anything from our want list. And DH is very set in his ways. We even got to the point of thinking maybe we shouldn't build at all! All a bit overwhelming. So the decision has been made to borrow more money from the bank! We will be in debt for ever. Last Friday DH and I went to visit southern stairs in the shire! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Jarrah hardwood with white risers (that's my favorite, but we might just end up with maple stained to the same colour or a chestnut colour) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I like spotty gum too, here are the possible stains that we can have Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ My DH liked the new bamboo stairs, but we couldn't find floor boards that will be the same so will give it a miss. From this picture we will have glass panels with button and side attached rails like this picture, we also choose Metal post as appose to timber post. We were surprised that it came $10k under our budget! So we were very happy! We also visited Beaumont and Amber tiles, we really liked the grey low gloss concrete tile look 600x600mm for down stairs. We are after the polished industrial concrete look. The cost was around $50-80/m2 which was within the budget that we had in mind. Today being Sunday we left the elder 2 with my in laws and drove to Harvey Norman's to look at tapwear, sinks etc... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Has anyone used the Methven range of tap wear before??? Any thoughts? So far I like the methven range of tap wear. I also learnt that they're a New Zealand based company! (I was brought up in NZ, so was more then happy to go with this brand). We currently settled for the amio ones, but might change our mind once we go to Cass Bros or Reece bathroom next week. How it works with this builder is these products such as tapwear are provisioned and we will buy it and the builder will install it. We are hopefully at the end of negotiation period with all the inclusion into the build! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75739&p=1299716#p1299716 Re: Custom home design Sydney - narrow block - DA Approved!! 38Jul 06, 2015 9:32 am Stairs look nice. I'll have to pay them a visit after the school holidays. My kids are over visiting house stuff! Are you able to PM how much they quoted for your stairs by any chance? Re: Custom home design Sydney - narrow block - DA Approved!! 39Jul 06, 2015 1:22 pm Agree with gandn - nice looking stairs. Thankfully our stairs are set in the side of the house, so not spending any money on them won't be obvious. I love seeing people's feature stairs. Nice tapeare too. It's great how you two can pic anything and know the costs involved, not have to go through builder and their crazy markups Re: Custom home design Sydney - narrow block - DA Approved!! 40Jul 06, 2015 1:27 pm Agree with tomcat the stairs are lovely. We would of liked to have upgraded ours as they are a straight up set at the front of the house but the budget said no. Plus the markup was nuts! I really like methven tapware, our shower heads are that brand.
