We have gone through Electricals together, my sister, mum and I. I just don't like it... hoping we get all the necessary bits and pieces.

Do you have an idea of what things you would like to do? Remeber to include junction boxes to the front and back if you plan on having garden lights. Shambini, not so thrilled about electricals...see my post on first page posted on Feb 21, 2015 11:13 pm. Will well and truly exceed the set budget. Thanks for the tip on junction boxes I will add to my list. I am thinking of marking all the ppts and light points on the floor plan and tick it off at the appointment. Is this what most people do? Whilst we have gone through the light points etc with Beacon, I hope M also provide some guidance. Should revisit the electrical threads.... so I don't forget anything. It is easy to exceed budgets. We exceeded our electrical budget by about 50%. We even added in additional electrical items twice during the build after signing everything off. We had Michelle and she was knowledgeable, patient and gave us some really good suggestions. We didn't feel pushed to upgrade and in some instances she actually advised us not to upgrade extra items because she didn't think we needed them. I'm looking forward to seeing your colour selections. This is the exciting bit. Enjoy, oh and get a coffee. It's a long day!
Re: KDRB Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney) 44Mar 07, 2015 10:03 pm I think we have exceeded primarily due to the power points and needless to say - downlights (even though I think these will end up being cheaper than what M charge)...and if it wasn't for the fans in bedrooms, we would have just gotten the basic lighting. We have to sign off on Electricals on the same afternoon - we don't get any more chances! How did you manage to add things? Did you have to pay a variation fee? Thanks for letting me know what to expect That is good to know - I would hate to be pushed; and this is the last thing you want when building your home. I will definitely get coffee - though it wasn't the best coffee I got last time from the cafe there Did you get a lunch break? I think we finished up after 1:45 so we had a very quick 15 minute lunch break. I remember starting electricals at 2. We actually ended up having to come back to finish the electrical appointment because we ran out of time. In hindsight, that was a blessing as we didn't have to finalise our selections there and then. It is really good you didn't have to sign off on Electricals on the same day. I would have liked to have done electricals on another day. I am thinking 3 ppts in Bed 2, 3, and 4 (two of these on bed side); and 4 in study. Overall - we have increased the number of power points - amazing what impact these have on the costs it is adding up fast!!! We have three up down lights on our facade, two of which are on pillars. Make sure you take your cheque book and plenty of ink. Thanks Shambini. CSC has sent some documents which note that a new progress payment plan will be raised if we exceed $15k in variations (in excess of what we have included already). We are more than likely to exceed this number. We have our finance all signed off - so I wouldn't want a new progress payment schedule, and instead give a cheque. Hopefully they do not have any issues - after all they get the funds up front. thank you for the reminder Metricon Glendale 38 - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75696&p=1298363#p1298363 Selections: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75696&start=60 Tiles - p25 Re: KDRB Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney) 56Mar 12, 2015 8:59 pm I doubt they will have the full quote ready on the day. They need to get some of the upgrades priced up by external suppliers. Depending on how comprehensive your list is, they could turn around within a week. Re: KDRB Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney) 57Mar 12, 2015 9:04 pm We added a dollar amount to our contract to allow for selections and then finance approval also included that amount.
