I'm thinking you should install automatic sliding clear doors because 1. You can close the doors so it's not too noisy 2. Glass doors can create the sense of space @ Orph build thread: viewtopic.php?t=78328 Dream Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney)! Whaaat there is an option of automatic sliding doors? Ofc there is Mona! I was planning to do motion sensored automatic glass sliding doors for my WIR but my other half refused blatantly my plans. @ Orph build thread: viewtopic.php?t=78328 Dream Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney)! We've signed final variation, can we still do a change before final contract? (2 changes actually, want to leave the BIR's as sliders rather than changing them to hinged like my previous cruddy idea!) lol This is usually ok, because they haven't actually done up your final documentation yet (that only starts after you sign the contract) and they just incorporate those last changes into the documentation. The potential negative, is that you have lost all power at that point as you are locked in to the contract, so they could come back with an unreasonable price for your requested change, and you would just have to accept it if you really wanted it. In reality though, they have their pricing structure - you are already being gouged to a degree for pre-contract variations, and post contract variations just use the same formula (no better, no worse). You could go for another round of variations prior to signing the contract, but you will find that they will be keen for you to sign the "big one" so will probably suggest that minor changes like this be handled as I described above. Thanks Clintdb, we have already signed a variations thing which was items written on paper to be added to final quote, pretty sure this is same thing? They were going to work on plans from there ready for proper contract so assuming we might have to pay something Although we haven't done colour selection yet, would they leave plans til after this in case you decide to add things on here that need to be included in plan? Re: KDRB Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney) - Fixing stage 1305Dec 18, 2015 9:36 pm Klyz I believe sliding doors are structural. If you want them in, I would check with your builder asap. When I am talking about "final documentation", I'm referring to the full architectural and engineering details that they need to actually build the thing properly. Before you sign the contract, they wouldn't do all of that (it would just be floor plans and elevations and maybe a cross section or two) as they wouldn't waste their time on the construction detail if it might not actually proceed to construction. Ticked off the fans today for family, outdoor and leisure rooms. Undecided about study - we are getting a fan point there (hidden under the plaster for now) - wonder if we might as well get a fan - given study will be our 'home office' and will be used a lot. Also - would having another fan mean toooo many fans throughout the house? What are your thoughts. This is what we got: Family: http://www.beaconlighting.com.au/fans/c ... fan-1.html Leisure http://www.beaconlighting.com.au/airfus ... -teak.html Outdoor: http://www.beaconlighting.com.au/revolu ... inium.html Decided against the fijian one. Went to Snooze as well - didn't like what was on display. May have to revisit Fortywinks; and we also like another bed at Pottery Barn (not seen in person yet!). Have decided against getting the sixties coffee table and unit from Freedom - what turned me off those is that we need to 'assemble' them. We like things where they are assembled - and therefore 'strong'. Looking forward to seeing our home tomorrow morning Metricon Glendale 38 - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75696&p=1298363#p1298363 Selections: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75696&start=60 Tiles - p25 Re: KDRB Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney) - Fixing stage 1312Dec 20, 2015 1:52 pm Yay one more item ticked off the list . Nice fans especially the one in the family . With Snooze you can mix and match bed heads and bases, so not limited to what's on display. Also there is a bed place called sweet dreams in Prospect, check it out as well. I am with you on furniture that comes flat pack, we've had quite a few of them and never had much luck with them, often gets rickety after a couple of years. I like my solid pre-assembled furniture too. Not sure if it's our poor assemble skills or the quality of the furniture Good luck with tomorrow take lots of pics. Thank you wow you remembered definitely nicest birthday present I am feeling super tired - but have SO much to do. I want just one day where I take it easy and not think about anything before 2015 ends. I hope SM gives us an indication tomorrow of handover timing, so we can book in our couches, electrician, driveway etc. I am aiming to finalise electricals, sidegates, and security doors quotes over the next week (lol writing it down makes it better - as I am more likely to go do this!) Yes we know of the shop sweet dreams in prospect - didn't go in - now that I think about it we should have! What I didn't like about Snooze was a fair few of their beds are timber 'veneer' and not the real thing - we would like solid wood Flat packs are not the real deal I think partly it could be how it is installed and we are not that handy anyway! So rather steer clear!! Hope you are having an awesome weekend. Re: KDRB Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney) - Fixing stage 1317Dec 21, 2015 6:23 am Just visited our home. The SM is back to his arrogant self. I don't get why they cannot be down to earth.... they aren't doing us a favor - we are paying a lot of money for giving them the privilege of building our home. The least they can do is be polite! I am none the wiser about handover timelines.... apparently M have been having issues with their 'supplier'. Tiles is the only big thing remaining. Apart from this I'm just annoyed at the SM's attitude. Will have to make sure our brother comes along with us next time / handover.
