I don't think the lower roof tiles will take too long. They better be done asap, along with electricals and aircon, for us to go ahead with the walk through and inspection on 7th. With the landscape I did the same for our council something quite simple hand drawn by me. We went through council and my "lovely" landscape plan is on the website . Anyway we are getting quotes and plans for landscaping now. Some larger landscapers will do the whole lot for you from drawing a landscape plan to meet soft/hard ratio, dealing with council/CDC etc. The landscaper who came out to quote on the weekend said the options for the sides are stepping stones, pebbles or fake grass if we can't concrete it due to soft/hard surface ratio. Depends what you are going to be using the side for if its not a high traffic area fake grass might do the trick. Once I get more details and quotes happy to share. viewtopic.php?t=78985 Hi Franky That would be great - please do share. Though we are going with such a basic plan. Fake grass to the side paths is a great idea! What type of plantation shutters did the companies recommend? I've had two coats from different companies and they say the completely opposite things! Company 1 : basswood shutters are the best as they are light, strong and will keep the house cool. They don't even recommend aluminium shutters for interior! Company 2: Recommend PVC or aluminium as wood can warp and fade. I'm a bit confused so curious to see if you've had a similar experience viewtopic.php?t=78985 Hi Franky, from memory they are timber ones. The sales consultant got us to hold timber vs aluminum one, and timber was lighter - sounded like he favoured the wood more. We are looking at Elite Blinds - which Sheilzy and Ausbuster used. They found them to be competitive. We got a quote for $9.5k :O which I think will increase, as we want to get plantation shutters to family, dinning and study windows too now :O Seems a lot to me! But feel as we haven't got any other features, these would like nice. Which company are you using? There seem to be so many out there! Hi Mona, Thanks for the reply we got quotes from both Elite and Shutters Aust. both the quotes were pretty close. It came up to $10k for plantation shutters for the front facade (ground and first floor), shade screen blinds( so we can see through them to the outdoor but cuts off light and glare) to all other window and stacker/sliding doors + motorised for the rumpus room and family room stacker door. However with shade screen blinds we will need to add a shut out blind or curtain for bedroom windows so this will push the price up again I am leaning towards Basswood shutters for the living rooms and tossing up if we want to do PVC for the bathrooms. viewtopic.php?t=78985 I think our quote is just excessive!! we don't have any motorised blinds. Looks fantastic (I might be biased though as it's the same facade ). The landscaping stuff sounds painful to say the least. We are so lucky we don't have to do anything like that. I hope you can come up with a plan that suits your needs (or always add what you really want later on once the approval has been granted, i remember having the same conversation with sheilzy ) re the bricks above the garage, we weren't even offered it!! I wouldn't worry the fc sheeting looks good. Thank you Tribe Hope so too!!! I want to be over and done with the landscape stuff asap. We could have gone with bricks over the garage - but just decided not to - it was all adding up Metricon Glendale 38 - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75696&p=1298363#p1298363 Selections: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75696&start=60 Tiles - p25 Re: KDRB Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney) - Lower Roof Tiles 725Sep 29, 2015 8:44 pm Hi Mona, I did read your post on Orpheus' thread The price difference could be due to the fact you are getting double hung blinds, I'd imagine it will almost double the cost and making it cost close to shutters. I found Elite very helpful and work through few options. Hopefully you can work this out! The quote I have in only for a single blinds. Motors only cost $220 per motor so not too expensive as it sounds. Also the quote is $11k with gst (grrrrr!) I am getting a third quote and let you know if the company is competitive. Btw what are doing for fly screens? Is M doing yours? viewtopic.php?t=78985 Re: KDRB Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney) - Lower Roof Tiles 726Sep 29, 2015 8:50 pm Franky40 Hi Mona, I did read your post on Orpheus' thread The price difference could be due to the fact you are getting double hung blinds, I'd imagine it will almost double the cost and making it cost close to shutters. Hopefully pricing will come down if we end up changing family, dinning and study to shutters. Btw was your Elite quote itemised? Ours was just break down by type - so light on info! Want to order these as soon as plasters are installed - JUST in case we have Xmas handover... they said be mindful that due to Xmas the port shuts down, and then there is chinese new year - so there could be a huge delay!!! Yes - M are doing our fly screens. Didn't want the hassle to do these post handover. It will be absolutely amazing if we have pre Xmas handover but I am not too hopeful (again no work this week like you!). At this stage we are planning to get Basswood shutters for front facade and a one highlight window in a bedroom and PVC shutters for bathrooms/ensuites. I would not put wood here incase it warps. viewtopic.php?t=78985 Re: KDRB Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney) - Lower Roof Tiles 729Sep 29, 2015 10:30 pm Franky40 Hi Mona, I will let you know if I get a better price. Ducted vacuum has also gone in. We wanted 3 ducts downstairs and 1 up.... apparently the installer put in 2 upstairs and 2 downstairs as he thought it was impractical what we wanted. What do you guys think? She said she can get it fixed if we want. The idea was we will be using the ducted vacuum downstairs mostly.
