Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 02, 2015 11:25 am I've just finished reading this very interesting article on Matt Cornell's site regarding the problems you might encounter if you have a small allotment. I'm sure he won't mind if I post the link: https://www.cornellengineers.com.au/pro ... #more-1733 Our allotment size was over 450 square metres - 476 square metres to be exact, but we have still run into problems because no notice was taken of the ground level and floor level of a neighbouring building. Re: Problems with small allotments 2Feb 02, 2015 2:16 pm Interesting article. I'm building a 16 sq house on a 294m2 lot (28x10.5m), so I guess I count as a small allotment. There weren't many bigger lots available in my estate unless you wanted a corner or uneven block (there are a few 12.5 frontages, but that was the largest in the releases so far). I'm a bit worried about my neighbor who will only have 8.5m frontage. I did look at house plans for this size but they were awful, you had to build on the boundary on both sides of the house so very few windows. Thankfully I will only have my garage on the fence line. It was worth the extra $12,000.00 or so for the bigger lot, plus I think my house is not too big for the land. I can't imagine someone putting a double story on a lot my size or smaller, but apparently it will happen. Hopefully they are well built and are safe! I am not a brick expert, but rendering would be 1 option, it would be costly to do the entire house though.... 2 6679 Hi all, has anyone been ask to do the weeds in their property while in the middle of build?
