Similar taste - more than you think! I just saw that you have two bulldogs, we have two staffies Oh wow, I guess we are almost twins lol. Great taste! You have me second guessing the laminate now. I think its too late to change though and my OH is quite set on it so we will just have to hope for the best! I am sure it will be fine, they both look great My build thread: Custom build on 40 acres viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75656 Re: Custom build on 40 acres 43Feb 05, 2015 7:26 am Bonnie_p what about the dining table on the RHS near the big wall and the tv unit next to / on top of the fireplace? Lounge facing the view? could that work? Unfortunately the fireplace is not an option as it is more or less an alcove with the fireplace and exposed flue in front. I think it just might be a matter of trying out different options when we move in and forget about the Powerpoint in the middle of the room option as my husband was looking into it last night and it is not very practicable and quite expensive. Worst case scenario we could get a thick rug and run a lead under it?! My build thread: Custom build on 40 acres viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75656 Re: Custom build on 40 acres 44Feb 05, 2015 10:28 am Ok kitchen time..... here is our kitchen plan and selected colours & materials. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ All cupboards (except the wall where the fridge goes) will be Dulux Whisper White 2pac in a satin finish. I decided that the gloss may be a little over the top considering all the windows and light, which might reflect too much. Dulux Whisper White Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The Island bench will be a bit of a feature (hopefully- that's the plan anyway!!) as we are doing the bench top in oiled Blackwood, here is a sample of what it may look like. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The rest of the bench tops (back wall & under the window where the sink is) will be Quantum Quartz Stone in "Amaretti". Amaretti Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The cupboards around the fridge will also be 2pac satin but we have chosen a darker colour called "Dulux Ploughed Earth" which should (hopefully) blend in with the fridge. A more grey colour would have matched the fridge better but wanted to go for a slightly warmer colour to blend in a little better with the wood flooring & bench top. This colour is also a perfect match to the window frames, which I discovered later Dulux Ploughed Earth Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Splash-back We are having a glass splash back behind the range hood (stainless steel & glass curved hood) and under the window where the sink is. We have chosen "Gunmetal Glitz" - this is the one I am a bit nervous about, I wanted something darker as the two sections where it is going is very light with the Whisper White cupboards & the Amaretti stone bench top. Crossing my fingers it will look ok. Gunmetal Glitz (the sample looks quite dark but this image from their website is not as dark) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Ha, I noticed I have said 'we have chosen' a few times. I should clarify that one, my husband drew a line in front of the kitchen and said that he does not step over it at all and it's all mine to choose whatever I want so he really had no idea what the kitchen is going to look it at all! I especially love the bench top plans. Wood will be a lovely feature. Looks like a very generous kitchen. I saw this kitchen (apart from a few minor changes) a few years ago in a display home and loved it. Funnily enough we ended up using the same architect so I was able to copy it My build thread: Custom build on 40 acres viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75656 Re: Custom build on 40 acres 47Feb 05, 2015 1:36 pm Quote: Ha, I noticed I have said 'we have chosen' a few times. Not sure what species Blackwood though but a timber/furniture maker is doing it so hopefully they pick a good one. This is the vanity we have chosen (from Reece), it has a moulded glass top which says "easy to clean". I tried out every bath in the showroom until I found the one that felt comfortable. I'm planning on spending a lot of time in there! Re: Custom build on 40 acres 60Feb 09, 2015 3:12 pm Bonnie_p loving the selections, particularly the vanity! Funny story about the vanity - or should I say a frustrating story! We originally found a similar (and cheaper) one from Highgrove bathrooms. I ordered two of them in February last year, since I was in no hurry to get them I didn't chase them up as I really wanted to delay the delivery for as long as possible. Anyway HB called me in June (4 months after my order) to say that the glass tops are no longer available so I need to come in and choose another top, Grrrr. When I came in the next week I could see the same glass top in the show room that they had sold to a customer with a sold date of only two weeks before, double Grrrr. I didn't see anything else that I liked so I asked them to call their Sydney offices for availability but that was just too hard so I did it myself and found a store who had two. I drove to Sydney (3hrs each way), picked up the tops and (stupidly) when I got home inspected the tops closely and saw a few small scratch marks that I wasn't happy with but considering the distance I decided to live with it. I then contacted the original local HB store to let them know I have two tops so I paid for the bases over the phone. They said they were happy to hold them for me but given my previous experience I dropped in the next week to collect them. As they were loaded into the car I noticed the picture on the side of the box was not the same as what I ordered but they insisted that it was right and not the same as the picture on the box, not convinced before driving off I opened up the box to find that yes they were the same as the picture on the box and not what I ordered, Tripple Grrrr. I then went back into the shop and asked them to unload my car as they were wrong only to be told the one I ordered WAS NO LONGER AVAILABLE!!! But they have two knocked about ones on the showroom floor that I can have if I wanted - no thanks! Arrrhhhhhh now I have two glass tops that will only fit on the bases that are no longer available. In the end I got HB to refund me the bases & the glass tops as there was no way I was going back to Sydney. To be honest I am glad I didn't end up with them as the quality was nowhere near the quality of the ones from Reece. Boy that story ended up longer than I anticipated - I need a glass of wine now! My build thread: Custom build on 40 acres viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75656 I'd get the gutters to match your roof and pipes to match the paint - otherwise they become a feature. Nice pick with the paint colours! 1 34274 6 55355 So it looks like we finally have some movement on site! Definitely later than expected, but I'll take any progress at this point. I'll drop by over the weekend to get… 5 27740 |
