Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 28, 2015 10:46 am Hi everyone, I'm almost at contract stage, but the builder currently has his estimating team looking at the extra cost to upgrade all my windows to 5mm toughened glass, as I have been upgraded by the CFA from BAL-19 to BAL-29. The house is only a 3bdm 2 bathroom - approx 15sq. All windows by standard are 5mm toughened glass when they come within 400mm of the floor as standard with my builder, but now due to the BAL change, all my windows now must be 5mm toughened glass minimum. Any idea how much extra this should cost? Just so I know I'm not being taken for a run by the builder? The glass won't be double glazed or laminated, just toughened 5mm. Thanks Re: Upgraded to BAL-29 - extra cost for thick toughened glas 2Jan 28, 2015 1:53 pm You would probably get a better response if you posted this question in the window section where a couple of window manufacturers frequent. Stewie I ran into trouble finding a lock that would fit my particular door, like your situation with your pivot door. I wanted a safe lock that couldn't be messed with easily. 4 25705 Hi Simeon, Thanks for your reply. Yes, that makes sense. I contacted the manufacturer; they will issue a certificate with BAL rating mentioned on it. 2 1851 |
