Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 17, 2008 10:26 pm A site visit today revealed that our downpipes have been installed
http://martyme-ourhome.blogspot.com/ But as can be seen fom the pictures on our blog they look B....y awful and we will want them changed. What do you all think are we over reacting? And if they are changed who should bear the cost? Re: FEATURE DOWNPIPES What can be done? 3Jun 17, 2008 10:30 pm I wonder if it would look less obvious once the ceiling to your eaves is installed? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! VJ We will not be having a normal ceiling in the eaves as we are having exposed rafters. I'm not sure hoe they are going to overcome this problem but I know if they had shown them like that on the plans we would not have accepted them! Re: FEATURE DOWNPIPES What can be done? 6Jun 17, 2008 10:40 pm Hmm.. if that's the case, then it shouldn't be there at all... very weird...
so i reckon you're not overreacting... let them relocate it to their cost... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: FEATURE DOWNPIPES What can be done? 7Jun 17, 2008 10:41 pm Why couldn't they move them to the outer sides of those rooms, and position them around the sides? They are going to stand out like crazy IMO....
If you can change them now, i'd do it! What's on the plans? Are they in the correct spots? Re: FEATURE DOWNPIPES What can be done? 8Jun 17, 2008 10:47 pm What are doin' to your house....don't these people understand design....you have a great looking facade, stackstone, getting beautiful doors (from blog), exposed rafters, you've obviously planned the look and then they do this....

Thanks for that much appreciated as I can no longer access photobucket whilst on internet at work! Re: FEATURE DOWNPIPES What can be done? 11Jun 18, 2008 3:51 pm Err...it doesnt really look to great, I would definately have them moved.
Only thing is, if they were specified in the plan and you signed off on them then it may have to come out of your own pocket. Where are these placed in the display home you saw? Maybe you could use this angle to obtain some leverage to have the builder fund the cost of moving them? It really peeves me that elevation drawings don't show downpipes! Hope you get it sorted martyme. Anne, will be interesting to see how much your DP changes once it's been painted. I must go and check my plans to see where ours are located!
