Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Metricon Bordeaux 39 21Jan 22, 2016 10:09 am Hi Niktoby, I am about to start building a bordeaux 50 in Sydney but I am adding on rumpus on the back of the family and moving the alfresco to enter from the dining. I found all the staff I have dealt with to be extremely helpful and accommodating so far. I originally was disappointed on the fact there was so many things that were not included. i.e. front door handles for one. If you have not done your colour, upgrades and electrical appointment yet, make sure you say everything you want from the display home individually so they can quote you on it. This will save you later in terms of variation fees. But overall i have found them so far to outstanding in regards to service and getting back to me when I left messages. Re: Metricon Bordeaux 39 22Mar 05, 2016 11:17 pm Hi bj123, I've found them to be flexible also. They extended the outdoor room so it's 4m longer and also the total width of my the house. I've just signed my contract for the bordeaux 56. I checked the door handle with the studio M consultant and she said that the display handle comes standard. i.e. Pitella. Which one did they include for you? I'm wondering if the Bordeaux 50 has different options compared to the 56. My sales consultant was good and she gave me a displayed option list which lists most of the upgrades as shown in the display. It's just a matter of going through the list to see which one you're willing to pay for. Vu Re: Metricon Bordeaux 39 23Apr 14, 2016 2:29 pm Hi Vuster, When going through external colours at Studio M we were advised that metricon had found a supplier for the entrance door handles from the display home in Balwyn, however they advised that they would cost the builder $5,000 and the builder didnt want to pay for it. I found it hard to believe the door handles cost that much considering i found better ones else where for almost $4,000 cheaper just for the handles so they credited us $260. We attempted to get a list of all the upgrades however we were advised of the standard upgrades as because it is a Melbourne design they didn't have a lot of the range. Did you end up getting the garage door as shown on display? We were advised there supplier no longer stocked the garage door and we would have to pick completely different design. After the those issues though it has been pretty good so far our plans are in council at the moment so we are hoping to be out to site in the next month or so. bj123 Re: Metricon Bordeaux 39 24Apr 28, 2016 12:45 am Hi bj123, Wow $5000 for door handles sounds ridiculous. I'm hoping your base house price is cheaper than the one offered in Melbourne since you are not getting some of the things as standard. My garage door is the one shown on the web site. The display home doesn't have a garage door as it is currently the greeting area. I had a bit or a shock when I went to my tile appointment. I had to pay a 60k upgrade price just to match the tiles in the display. Message me if you want to discuss anything further. It'll be good to compare notes. I've managed to source matching lights which metricon could not provide me. I can share the suppliers with you if you like. Believe the lights make a big difference. Re: Metricon Bordeaux 39 25Aug 21, 2016 4:50 pm gwu69 Hi, it had been a year since we moved in Bordeaux 50 plus an extra room. We are happy with the construction process with minor incidents only, we were same to be unsure Metricon since a lot of negative reviews online. However, Bordeaux is the display home match our requirements closely, then we decided to take risk. In the end, it was better process than we expected. We did have few things missing out, such as Kitchen window height was a upgrade; then shorter than display. We didn't build the same specification as display, but adding an extra room with balcony, 57 sq. We had more than $200,000 more than basic due to upgrade and extra space. It only took them 8 months to hand over and that include Christmas break and delays, actual time claimed to be 4 months building. It did require a good organisation skill from project manager, we had minor disagreement with him in the end since he didn't like our own inspector picking on minor scratches. Our sales Melissa from Balwyn display, Melbourne is very good, always reply in time. We had roof leak and PM claimed that caused by roof tile moved by others, and minor leaking from upstair toilet, they fixed right away. Just make sure that communication with supporting staff, find out what your need early rather than make a variation during construction. I will give them 8 out 10. Elctrical is a bit tricky, we didn't get the switch and powerpoint in the right positions such as bedside. Central vacumm need to be checked as a 9m hose would not reach in some corners, some points in the walls where we will be using. Just check out this site http://www.anewhouse.com.au. $4 checklist and tips help you through the process, it would make your life a lot easier. Brian is a knowledgeable person you can ask question. Enjoy your building! Hi Gwu, We are interested in the Bordeaux design and am interested to know where you added the extra room and balcony on the plans and how much it cost?
