Ya after seeing the drawing, we agreed that builder should build houses not design kitchen. Lol. We got rid one dead corner by sacrificing the fridge space. The other one, we just have to live with it and do something similar to ikea rail system which will be accessible from inside only. You must definitely have a different SS than Sofia.... Great storage idea in the kitchen/family room! I toyed with the idea of putting extra cupboards at the back of our kitchen bench where the overhang is but decided to leave it since it will be the first time we can be social in the kitchen once we got some stools to put there. I'm glad I left it because it is really nice to sit and chat while someone cooks plus the kids and I eat there together too. Your wife washing her hands is hilarious I like her sense of humour! During the planning stage, I asked ds whether I could have gpo on the floor where my future island would be, but I was told no. I think I will just have to think about alternative to lead cable in or simply ditch the idea of running appliance on the island. I felt thankful with the progress I had so far too. What SS u got again Sofia? Mine is Rob. I tried to compare my timeline with yours, Emily, and yea I could felt mine moving at pretty good pace. Finger cross they could continue keeping the pace. Good on you Emily on getting keys! Love your house and can't wait to see those dog collar to finally be replaced with led down lights. Absolutely right, that's why I was not quite impressed when ds said no. But nvm. I may look into options of placing a pole between the island and the ceiling. The pole can be used to hang stuff and the elec cable can run from the ceiling to the island and *tada* that's how I may get couple gpo! Sweet idea hey Complete Timeline: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75521&p=1294506#p1294506 === Recent Status === 23May: Roof Done Re: Wellard WA Build with Dreamstart Homes [Roof Covered] 150Jul 09, 2015 9:18 pm Ya, different SS. Sofia mentioned that you were not allowed a gpo on the island? Did you want it on the actual floor or did they not allow you to add a gpo to the side of the island? Were you blatantly told no at pre-start? Cause here is a photo of mine - perhaps you can show the SS to help your argument? Re: Wellard WA Build with Dreamstart Homes [Roof Covered] 152Jul 12, 2015 12:10 am Chrome: if u read back, he wants it put in at the construction and build his own island after handover through a carpenter friend. I suspect it will be yes like your case if DS does the island. Timeline: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76782 Re: Wellard WA Build with Dreamstart Homes [Roof Covered] 153Jul 20, 2015 3:42 am Hi JJ If you are going to fit an island bench after completion and wanted power you would normally take up the tiles between the existing bench and island, cut a channel in the concrete, electrician to run the power to the island and then use some of your left over tiles to cover the channel again. If you don't want to have power points on the external faces of the cabinets you would normally use something like a Hafele Powerdock Vertical. The shelves will be painted. However, if you are doing the painting yourself, you have to paint the wall bit inside. It looks like we might have the same formica for the cabinet. Hmmm...i thought they would install the bathroom floor tiles at the same time as the shower's.
