Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 22, 2015 10:44 am Completely shattered that our beautiful polished concrete slab has two cracks in it. This is a new build so as yet hasn't had the final cut. One crack is very fine, not so worried about this one. The other is to me, quite deep and long. Anyone have any experience with these? is there a filler that will make it less noticeable? Thanks. Re: Crack in polished concrete! HELP! 2Jan 25, 2015 9:04 am We are looking at polished concrete for our new build and everyone we speak with says there will be cracking due to the properties of concrete when it sets. You can look at expansion joints but doesn't look good. I have seen $3m homes where the polished concrete has cracked. We are now thinking a natural stone tile rather than polished concrete! Re: Crack in polished concrete! HELP! 3Jan 25, 2015 12:33 pm Id say it's part of the character, personally. They can be filled as part of the grind and polish process. Disappointing if you paid extra for higher MPA pour etc but if it's something you're doing retrospectively afterwards then I guess it's a risk you take. Most likely poor foam installation and render installation, Joint covered with render, foam could be sitting on flashing. Do you have any render at house 4 9314 Yes, unless you are in a low intensity rainfall area or the area is protected from rain. Do you have access to NCC Part 2 or can you download it? I can email you a copy… 10 12509 |
