Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with HGWA ROOF TIMBERS STARTED : ) 542Nov 13, 2015 9:17 pm Sharry So it seems our build is the talk of the community( Tradie & Local). I was stood in the check out queue in woolworths behind some tradies and one said to the other (I know it sounds like a start to a joke lol ) did you here about that build where the bricks were so bad the owners paid the brickie to pull the front of the house down and rebuild it. I suddenly realised they were taking about my house so I told them that was my build. Any way to cut a long story short (about 1 hour chatting outside woolies) they said all the tradie community know all about it and that our first brickie messed up his own build and is known to be crap so why the hell did HGWA employ him. They also told me heaps of people local and tradies have been to have a look so that will explain all the footprints all the time haha. also that they were all disgusted it was left so long before any thing was done about it and that we had to pay towards it. So I immediately went into the bottle shop and got some beers for the roofers and took them round to the build and yes they also knew all about it. They were very grateful for the beers. :: I think HGWA should be made aware of this story.... bit embarrassing Re: Building with HGWA ROOF TIMBERS STARTED : ) 543Nov 14, 2015 12:27 am You so shouldn't have had to pay for that fix Sharry. I didnt realise that.. it should have been a given that HGWA fixed such a bodge job. On a positive note everything looks so neat and tidy and you're gonna have a roof soon!!! Re: Building with HGWA ROOF TIMBERS STARTED : ) 544Nov 14, 2015 2:09 am I agree with Rache didn't appreciate that you had to pay for some of it! That just isn't on But it is good that tradies are taking an interest in your house, and they also know you'll not stand for 2nd rate jobs so I'm sure they'll all do well by your build Looking forward to roof pictures, and thanks again for the offer to help, Sharry.... even with your daughter's exam and the airport run!! You're a real star x Re: Building with HGWA ROOF TIMBERS STARTED : ) 545Nov 14, 2015 10:34 am bryzza I'd be so cheesed off and taking it further after hearing that . Glad that is kinda behind you now I must admit it does tick me off. We have had many many sleepless nights over it all but we are at a stage (13 months 1 week) that we just want it to be built and I could not have looked at that awful front wall every day and because HGWA had the building commission and it was all in tolerances there was nothing we could do but pay for it our selves. HGWA did do the other walls for us so it wasn't all bad. We will however be keeping an eagle eye from now on. The tradies since have all been great especially Rick the Brick and yes he does know about his new nick name and likes it haha. He has been awesome Re: Building with HGWA ROOF TIMBERS STARTED : ) 546Nov 14, 2015 10:38 am I think HGWA should be made aware of this story.... bit embarrassing[/quote] We told HGWA at the time we noticed the really bad workmanship that the brickie was crap and that its a reflection on them but they were not bothered and they just let him keep building. But all good now Re: Building with HGWA ROOF TIMBERS STARTED : ) 547Nov 14, 2015 10:45 am Rache You so shouldn't have had to pay for that fix Sharry. I didnt realise that.. it should have been a given that HGWA fixed such a bodge job. On a positive note everything looks so neat and tidy and you're gonna have a roof soon!!! I know but it was the only way to get the front wall re done as it was in building commission tolerances and I did say what about customer satisfaction but they were not interested . I actually was absolutely sick of hearing the answer as "well its in the building commissions tolerances. But like you said its all looking good now and I am so excited about getting a roof Re: Building with HGWA ROOF TIMBERS STARTED : ) 548Nov 14, 2015 10:48 am MalSannie I agree with Rache didn't appreciate that you had to pay for some of it! I can't believe the whole community knew! At least you know you were in the right when you have the backing of the trades. Can't wait for you to have your colorbond moment!! Re: Building with HGWA ROOF TIMBERS STARTED : ) 556Nov 18, 2015 10:50 am As it so happens I swung past this morning (stalking by build lol) and the timber guys were still there doing the roof timbers but the tiles have been delivered whoop whoop. My friend/neighbour called me last night to say the tradies were still there at 7pm working hard Re: Building with HGWA ROOF TIMBERS STARTED : ) 557Nov 18, 2015 7:32 pm Re: Building with HGWA ROOF TIMBERS STARTED : ) 559Nov 18, 2015 7:52 pm So excited. My daughter was like mmmuuuuummmm do you have to I go to college the lad next door hahaha.
