Instead if cutting bricks to go around the beam he just plonked a wad of mortar in the gaps. Not sure what was wrong with the bricks under the front window but he pulled them down on Saturday. Re: Henley - Monterey Belle Q2 - KDR 226Oct 27, 2015 7:58 am Tilers worked all day yesterday but not much was done. I'm not sure why but they pulled off this entire wall of tiles and this was not even one of the ******* walls Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is the ensuite bath hob. Under the window there is a big gap where the plaster board doesn't meet the architrave and this area won't be tiled. I don't know how they are going to fill those gaps. Not sure if we should just put up with it or ask for it to be re done Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Henley - Monterey Belle Q2 - KDR 227Oct 27, 2015 8:49 pm I'm feeling really disheartened- our tiles are looking worse and worse every day. I can't even stand to look at them anymore. The spacing is terrible, the grout is patchy and inconsistent- we tiles our old house ourselves and we did a better job than this. Also our shower niches are odd sizes. The plans say 340x620. The ensuite 270x580 The kids bathroom is 300x590 I'm only posting one photo tonight and that says it all Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Henley - Monterey Belle Q2 - KDR 228Oct 27, 2015 8:51 pm Hey Jessicana the bottom bits get done later once the bench tops go in! Mine looked like this but then it looks fine now. Are you having an inspector because therell be tolerances theyll have to meet... some of are bricks are going to be redone for example because the mortar is greater than 20mm Our build - MainVue Amalfi 428 - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75482 Re: Henley - Monterey Belle Q2 - KDR 230Oct 27, 2015 8:54 pm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ You can kinda see it in this pic. It's really uneven grout too. In person it looks awful. So far the issues with the tiles are: Run the wrong direction in the ensuite Don't line up In main bathroom. The cuts around the shower niches are really rough and Jaggered. Shower niches wrong size. The cuts in the shower bases are really inconsistent too, some grout lines are super thin and some are really thick. This gives a bit of an idea of the grout issues Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I haven't spoken to the SS yet. I'll be interested to see what he thinks of them. We didn't get an independent inspector. Probably a decision we will live to regret Re: Henley - Monterey Belle Q2 - KDR 232Oct 27, 2015 9:08 pm Its not too late. We skipped base and frame stage.. just doing fixings and completion... you could have an inspector through when the tiles are finished and at completion.. We have squiggly lines and circles all over our plaster so not sure what fixing needs to be done there too Re: Henley - Monterey Belle Q2 - KDR 234Oct 27, 2015 9:24 pm Hopefully your SS is on the ball and gets them to fix the issues. They should line up perfectly if the tiles are same size one would assume. Sloppy really hey My Build Journey - Mainvue Amalfi 530 in South Eastern Melbourne https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75810&p=1353804&hilit=mainvue+amalfi#p1353804 Re: Henley - Monterey Belle Q2 - KDR 235Oct 28, 2015 5:08 pm There was no one working at the house today so I went and had a good look. I emailed admin and told them about tiling issues. I asked for the SS to go and have a look. When I came home from picking up the kids from kinder I saw him leaving the house so I know he has seen it. Just waiting for his response now. I'm guessing he's going to say it's fine I also measured my shower niche in the ensuite. It should be 340x620 and its 270x580 It's really hard to photograph white tiles and grout but here you can see the top tile has too Much grout then the one under it has less, it's like that on all of the tiles, it's not smooth grout And the lines look so thick Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ These are the rough shower niche cuts Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our shower base cut bad Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Henley - Monterey Belle Q2 - KDR 236Oct 28, 2015 6:04 pm That is shonnky work.. I hope your SS sorts it all for ya. Re: Henley - Monterey Belle Q2 - KDR 237Oct 29, 2015 12:01 am The shower base is not on. Upon closer inspection, our tiling also leaves a bit to be desired. Most of the issues appear to be in the kids bathroom (chipped tile, top row of tiles seem to lean into the wall, floor tile in the corner of both hob seems to dip which reveals an uneven grout line. ------------------------------------------- Build Thread - Mainvue Emporio ER430 KDR https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76790&p=1332227&hilit=mainvue#p1332227 Re: Henley - Monterey Belle Q2 - KDR 238Oct 29, 2015 7:52 am That's terrible they would want to fix it up. Does the Brickie come back and fix the bits of blown out mortar etc or only if we ask? Few bits that need to be fixed. Also those that have some aluminum Windows what goes under the window where the meet the brick. Do they seal it with silicone or something as we have areas where there is gaps I can see under the window through.
