Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 16, 2008 11:35 pm Hey guys, we've had our site "cleaned" twice now leading up to Handover (cause i was not happy with the first job- i asked for a second clean!)
But i am still disappointed at the state of the site! This was after our first site clean: http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee299/matthewnathan/P6040249.jpg And this was after our second site clean: http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee299/matthewnathan/P6150468.jpg I'm still not liking the amount of brickies sand and debris that is ****** around... Can someone "define" how clean a Site Clean should be??? Any stories??? Re: Site clean- How clean is it??? 2Jun 16, 2008 11:45 pm Hmmm... looks better than ours did!
The plumbers came day after handover and left broken tiles, water pump instructions, bits of pipe, plastic & cardboard packaging all over the place. Re: Site clean- How clean is it??? 4Jun 17, 2008 8:09 am Front of your site does look pretty clean. I would be content with this myself. Many other houses would be a lot worse.
The extra sand seems to be around your driveway area which will be dug up anyway. If you live in a high clay area then a little bit of sand wont hurt. The house looks quite nice by the way. Re: Site clean- How clean is it??? 5Jun 17, 2008 8:48 am Looks fine to me, P. Ours was somewhere in between first and second pic.
I won't go into the mess left IN the garage, though... [sneakersss] Re: Site clean- How clean is it??? 6Jun 17, 2008 8:56 am I think it looks great Phoenix! I am kind of expecting a certain mount of debris, sand, soil etc outside, as long as not too much of it is left INSIDE then I'll be happy.
Look forward to seeing what you do with the front yard by the way! Re: Site clean- How clean is it??? 7Jun 17, 2008 9:12 am The site looks neat ... except for the pipe sticking out of the ground near the footpath; what's that? Re: Site clean- How clean is it??? 8Jun 17, 2008 9:12 am I think it looks better than ours did... especially after the final round of touch ups Re: Site clean- How clean is it??? 9Jun 17, 2008 9:14 am Duminda The site looks neat ... except for the pipe sticking out of the ground near the footpath; what's that? My guess is that it will be for a grated drain across the driveway. Built Porter Davis "Dromana" 2007. Re: Site clean- How clean is it??? 10Jun 17, 2008 9:20 am *P*
Had a look at your other post with shots out the back and side, I'd be happy with this site clean. The first one was unacceptable. There looks a spot immediately in front of the door, along the path which they haven't touched....you could maybe ask them to address that spot a bit better. I agree with louie you may be blessing the sand if you have a bit of rain (I deliberately didn't mention that they'd left a brick pallet on site so that I could take it apart and make a path across a quagmire of mud..... mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: Site clean- How clean is it??? 11Jun 17, 2008 10:27 am I think it looks okay/acceptable in the second photo. I would be more worried about the inside being 100% perfect, window tracks and all. I think I read on Clath's thread that she spent five hours cleaning before she moved in! Happy at Home Re: Site clean- How clean is it??? 12Jun 17, 2008 1:13 pm Hi Phoenix,
Your house is looking good! If you don't have landscaping included in your deal (which most of us don't), I don't think you can get any more than that... Builder will remove rubbish, clean the windows/walls/floor, and that's about it. Don't forget you might have your own trades person to do other works after handover, and it will be messy again. Look at the bright side, the earlier you hand over, the earlier you can move in! All those sand and mud arround the house, well, if you can find a good landscaper, make sure you negotiate a deal to get them removed or covered by paving, concrete, ...etc. All the best! Re: Site clean- How clean is it??? 13Jun 17, 2008 6:59 pm Hey P those pics don't look to bad.
The first one looked like they only had another ute load to take away that had been moved to the footpath so they could say the "Site " was clean. Builder will remove rubbish, clean the windows/walls/floor, and that's about it. Back when I was working in the construction industry thats all we ever could do, the plumber/ concreter or landscapers will use any left over sand depending on what you have left to do such as driveways any drains/irrigation. Or you could use any left over sand to make a path to the front door, since sand will be easier to clean up inside then mud. I have stone pavement (?) in my backyard around the pool. I have not tended to them and so there is moss growing on them. I intend to clean them but was wondering what the… 0 1586 I am not sure whether Perth has its own way of doing things in regards to this. Most of Perth has class A (sandy soil), except for some areas near rivers or hills. 2 13107 |
