Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 15, 2015 4:01 pm Hey everyone!
I am finally able to make my own blog (thanks to some help). My partner and I are building our first home together. We are so so excited and need some help along the way. We are building "The Insight" (3x2) by Smart Homes for Living in Trinity, Alkimos (Atelier Village) As this is our first home (and we are very young) we have gone for the cottage block. Our land is 350sm and is on a corner block. We lose we lose 5sm off the front and 5sm off the back because of the way the corner cuts off. Our land was titled and settled in December 2014. We are now waiting for all the approvals so we can get started! Pre start was quite early (July 2014) so our selections are all finalised.. although i wish i could change some things about it. Here is our home plan: We have changed the study into a theatre room by adding 1 metre in length onto the front. Here are our tile selections: This is our kitchen tile and laminex selection. Our tile is 450x450 but we only have the smaller sample. The colour is a marbled white in the glossy coat. This will be for the whole house except bedrooms and theatre. I have chosen pure marble gloss for the benchtops & warm white gloss for the cupboards. Our kitchen splash back tile. My Ensuite selection & bedroom wall paper to match bathroom. This is a better picture of what it will look like. My feature tile for ensuite. My Bathroom selection. We have chosen Bombora mallee for our carpets. This is a sample picture of the colour. We have got for the neutral style but are happy with this as we can dress our home up with colours knowing they will match. This is the style of our house and the colours we have chosen. Surfmist colourbond roof. Surfmist rendor. Showroom feature rendor. (we arent happy with this colour so will add exterior tiles to the feature wall once moved in) Our paving for front and back. Cannot wait for construction to start and to see what these look like in real life! Re: First build in Alkimos, Trinity Estate. 2Jan 15, 2015 11:26 pm Awesome you managed to get photos up and your Forum going! I love that your Laundry is between your kitchen and garage! Your master bedroom ensuit & WIR's are so similar to mine! I think Smart Homes is one of the building companies below the Ventura group - the Same as Aussie Living who I am building with! Their standard selections are pretty decent hey!? Re: First build in Alkimos, Trinity Estate. 3Jan 16, 2015 11:12 am Yes!! thanks for the help I know, we are happy with this layout.. just incase boyfie comes home dirty from work - he can throw his mess in there and not dirty my floors haha!! Yes i noticed we have the same ensuite design, we upgraded ours to look like that.. SO happy we chose this! I know! We were so pleased when we saw the standard tile selections, they are really generous compared to homebuyers anyway.. we looked into them and the standard selections didnt compare to what smart homes allowed us! Im tooo excited for the slab.. you must be over the moon that your house is nearly at lockup!! Yeah prestart okay... - we had abit of a hiccup actually. Our Lady was sick half way through and we were told to come back another day. I wasnt happy about this because we got time off work for it so we ended up with 2 other people throughout the day. Was a little messy and our selections werent anything like we planned as we were rushed so we were able to come back another day and make some changes.. thank god! Yep very quick to draw up plans and yes very happy about the prices being told. So far so good.. now just need to wait for the construction! Have you started building yet? Re: First build in Alkimos, Trinity Estate. 15Feb 15, 2015 9:21 am Haha loving your descriptions of the bf's clothes-dumping locations. I'm just glad mine isn't a concretor anymore, the washing machine was likely to set and begin curing mid-way through a cycle one day! Now I just have to worry about the kids finger and hand marks on the walls - you'd think their spines were jelly given the amount of support they appear to need from the walls....!!!! Oh i can feel your pain, my partner did concrete work for a little bit and there was bits of white cement all over the house! Thats funny! I am not looking forward to when that time comes. I think im happy cleaning up after one big kid for now hahaha (my boyfie) Re: First build in Alkimos, Trinity Estate. 18Feb 19, 2015 2:36 pm SO we were knocked back by the developer. They told us we had to change our front door colour and front window as they dont fit in their guidelines. They are looking for bright coloured front doors as they want the community theme to be 'fremantle'. I was not happy AT ALL about this, but we have decided to go for a turquoise coloured front door just so the developers would approve our plans and we could get on with it! (we will possibly paint it as soon as we move in). We had to change our front theatre window to make it longer and thinner. As long as it was still a corner window, we didnt mind. - Here is what it will look like now. Because of all the drama and delays - I nicely asked the builders how much it would cost to change some tiles and cabinetry seeing as our prestart was last june. She told me that because we have been quite calm about this whole changing process, we were able to come back in and redo our prestart without the $500 variation fee! We were over the moon!! I have uploaded our new selections. Now the waiting game. Re: First build in Alkimos, Trinity Estate. 19Feb 19, 2015 3:24 pm how good of them - exciting! Round two here you come. Sucks about the developer though but all positive in the end! Re: First build in Alkimos, Trinity Estate. 20Feb 19, 2015 3:38 pm JustinInPerth how good of them - exciting! Round two here you come. Sucks about the developer though but all positive in the end! I know, i havent been very happy with the developer throughout this whole process to be honest. Ive been told we will have a slab around mid April so so far away.. and then winter will soon be here! Just have to think positive. I am hoping to be in around December.
