Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 21Jan 30, 2015 11:59 pm Feeling so disheartened about the house.. We left the house for a whole week in the hope that we would have quite abit of progress! Well the progress we have had is all wrong and has to come down Both our garage doors they have installed the wrong colour.. Our cedar wood lining in the alfresco has two big dirty bolts in it that should be in the roof so it doesn't show and to top it off our theatre room doors are standard size doors and not custom made to fit a sunken theatre. It's now 35 weeks since slab down. I enrolled my son at the local school but now I'm planning to keep him in his current school. We were told a mid feb handover date but we have these things that need fixing and we still have the flooring, carpets, aircon, driveway and backyard to do ourselves. At least your having some sort of progress, it might not be 100% now but at least you've picked it up now rather than later and they can get onto fixing their mistakes! I hope things pick up and they push through to get the work done quickly and correctly!! I wish we could have got one too, so jealous. There's still hope for an outdoor spa yet Your house is looking beautiful x Building our first home - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=73568 Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 28Feb 06, 2015 12:34 pm We really wanted the spa so we went with that over having a double shower. We made the shower bigger but we didn't have enough room in the ensuite for a double but that's ok because we always shower at different times anyway and Matt works FIFO mostly. We had our baby in September this year, Matt was working FIFO but when I was 6 months pregnant he came home and worked in perth but as of Monday next week he is going back up north to work. Will make things harder with PCI and handover as it's happening any week now but we need him to go up north if we want to install the pool and have ducted air con as we didn't allocate for those things yet and we can get a lot more done stress free. So on the bright side we just put on layby our brand new fridge! It's a samsung 4 door fridge with built in Soda Stream sparking water Building our first home - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75306 Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 29Feb 06, 2015 1:32 pm Wow didn't know you could get built in soda streams how cool Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 30Feb 11, 2015 1:54 pm We brought a pool!!! We always knew we were going to get one eventually but DH is going back up north to work so we decided to use the savings and buy a pool without increasing our mortgage.. I'm so excited now we originally picked a pool and a spa but then we decided on a bigger pool and to scrap the spa. We have a spa in our ensuite plus having a spa outside meant more expensive power bills. We also have some progress on the house. Scullery splashback is in and the front of the house is finally fully plastered ready for the painters to come back. Does the feature rendering on the left stay that colour or is it painted? Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 32Feb 11, 2015 6:44 pm alrightdave Hi caraf88, your scullery looks really nice and the front of the house is a wicked design. Does the feature rendering on the left stay that colour or is it painted? It will be painted, for now it's just going the one colour which is charcoal as we only got two colours to choose so we picked a charcoal and light grey that was also on the display home, then we plan to do the panels in different colours. I really like the display home so hoping to do the same colours, especially the orange. Our supervisor said he's getting things done as quickly as he can now, should be 2-3 weeks until PCI. I plan on taking a drive down tomorrow afternoon and see what's been happening .. Hopefully some more progress. DH has gone back to working FIFO for awhile so hopefully things go to plan so that we can do handover when he is back.
