The quote I've had for our 2 sliding doors had the panels 3.2 times more expensive than the verticals Re: Building with Redink Homes 225Nov 15, 2015 10:36 am Hi everyone I am hoping someone on here might have a piece if advice what to do. Well they have finally put the roof on our house, plastering, ceilings and cornices have been put in. Very exciting stuff. Window glass got installed on Friday and I was so excited when I went to see the house as I am loving this progress. Imagine my shock/horror/disappointment when I got to the house and found that the window frame colour was wrong!!!!! The colour of our windows is White Lustre (off/creamy white) the colour it is supposed to be is Pearl White (bright white). It wasn't pick up by us as they were covered with the protectant black film, but I don't know how the supervisor didn't pick this up. Anyway, does anyone know if and how they will be able to rectify this, as we are so disappointed!! We haven't emailed/called them yet as we noticed this late Friday afternoon. We initially chose White Lustre at Prestart, but afterwards (prior to Scheduling etc) we changed majority of our colour scheme. We were still at Prestart stage at the time and all the colours were changed as a part of the first free variation. Since then no changes have been made. They have clearly looked at the wrong documentation when ordering. Re: Building with Redink Homes 226Nov 15, 2015 2:51 pm Frames can be painted, my parents had their frames re-painted not long ago as their house was built in the 90s! Re: Building with Redink Homes 227Nov 16, 2015 12:12 pm mandy+steve Frames can be painted, my parents had their frames re-painted not long ago as their house was built in the 90s! I have heard that on aluminium frames the end result doesn't last, so it will chip etc. At the same time, I am aware it is most likely our only option. What a mistake to make!!! Another thing, how often did you all meet with your site supervisor? We haven't met once with ours and we are almost ready to lock up. In the book they gave us it says we are to meet him on numerous occasions. We have so many measurements out that we are super concerned. Main bathroom shower is 30cm too small, our ensuite double shower is 9cm too small, and most walls in the house are 3-4cm out, including the kitchen. Is this a normal margin of error or should we be concerned? We have emailed our CLO, and we will request a meeting and possibly a change of supervisor, because this doesn't feel right. Re: Building with Redink Homes 228Nov 16, 2015 1:04 pm We've met ours once at the house as we were concerned about how the cabinetry was finished (turns out it's not finished lol but was nice of them to explain in person) if things are ticking along ok I guess no need to meet him but if you have things you are not happy with there's no harm in asking for a quick meeting to ask some questions Re: Building with Redink Homes 229Nov 16, 2015 1:07 pm mandy+steve We've met ours once at the house as we were concerned about how the cabinetry was finished (turns out it's not finished lol but was nice of them to explain in person) if things are ticking along ok I guess no need to meet him but if you have things you are not happy with there's no harm in asking for a quick meeting to ask some questions Thanks mandy+steve, I am hoping we will have the same outcome and it will all be ok at the end. Last time we built I could not understand why everyone was saying building is so stressful as we had the best experience. Now i get it!! LOL Re: Building with Redink Homes 230Nov 16, 2015 2:29 pm Hi MIMN, your build seems like it's going super quick now. Don't worry we only meet our SS once and that's becoz we asked to meet him due to brick problems. Didn't seem like he was happy to meet us either. But think we will officially meet on the tile meeting. (If that ever happens). Re: Building with Redink Homes 231Nov 16, 2015 4:00 pm Hey MIMN Thats so awful for you...... To be honest I would be requesting that if at all possible that they take the frames out and replace with the correct ones. ... I too am building with redink and have picked the pearl white also for my frames.... Goodluck Re: Building with Redink Homes 232Nov 16, 2015 4:21 pm Yes if that's the specifications that you've signed off on they'll have to fix or compensate you for the error otherwise why even have prestart at all grrrr!!!! Our build has been dragged out so much, and now at a year and 2 months since we started we are so over it, so at the same time really are not wanting to drag it out any further. Maybe I should ask them to start paying our rent hahahaha. I know right?! It is so frustrating! We are currently waiting to hear back from our CLO, apparently she is discussing with management. I don't know how they compensate for something like that. Will keep you guys informed of our outcome. Hoping we will get something out of them by the end if the day. Re: Building with Redink Homes 236Nov 16, 2015 5:09 pm Hi MIMN I'm so sorry you're having to go through this! I'd ask them to replace it I think most RedInk people only meet their SS at the tile meeting and at PCI, and otherwise by chance. Good luck and I hope they get back to you asap with a proper fix that you're happy with! Re: Building with Redink Homes 237Nov 18, 2015 3:48 pm MalSannie Hi MIMN I'm so sorry you're having to go through this! Good luck and I hope they get back to you asap with a proper fix that you're happy with! Hi MalSannie That is what is looking like with regards to their SS. In the file provided by RedInk at the start of our build it says that we will meet with him on numerous occasions, from memory Brickwor, Roof Cover, Lock-up and PCI. Hence the reason I was questioning it. The window frames will be taken out and replaced by the correct colour, causing they say a week delay. Arghhh I feel like all I do is winge about this build LOL. Lets hope it is smooth sailing from now on Re: Building with Redink Homes 238Nov 18, 2015 4:17 pm Oh that's great that they can fix up the window frames! I think with every build there is going to always be something that comes up so try not to stress or worry it's normal for a few things to go not as planned (unfortunately but realistically), it's how well your builder deals with the error that ultimately matters! Re: Building with Redink Homes 240Nov 18, 2015 6:51 pm Im so glad their going to replace the frames for you... if you anything like me, seeing the wrong frames every time you get home would drive you insane....
