Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Has anyone built with Hotondo? 21Apr 05, 2015 7:24 pm How exciting for you KD84! Glad to hear of another fellow Hotondo client. We love the look of the illawarra, its a gorgeous plan and sounds like your additions are well worth it. Hoping you can pop back in here to update us. Fingers crossed you hear positive news back soon so things can get moving for you! Re: Has anyone built with Hotondo? 22Apr 06, 2015 8:00 am Congrats on the house and land KD84! There hasn't been many threads on Hotondo but there are a few of us now I'm building with Hotondo in Sth-West NSW, the Jamieson 222, we haven't made any structural changes to our plans, we just turned the Kids Zone in to a 4th bedroom (they have thrown in a wardrobe and door for free) and the extra living room will be our theatre room. We added an extra 3 panel stacker door to the other wall of the alfresco so it's nice and open. Our slab is going down any day now, although the weather is looking horrible for tomorrow so it probably won't be happening in the first part of this week unfortunately. Re: Has anyone built with Hotondo? 23Apr 07, 2015 2:21 pm Looking forward to seeing your house take shape ...kd84 We are currently getting a quote from Hotondo homes and are also looking at the Illawarra 220 with the addition of the alfresco to the back along with the walk in pantry! the idea of a laundry shoot is genius and we may just copy u there lol. We are also looking at placing a small deck up top where the leisure room is. We have received a few quotes from other builders and there two storey prices are extremely high with some companies basically refusing to even quote us. So far Hotondo homes have been great so fingers crossed there price comes in under budget Re: Has anyone built with Hotondo? 24May 27, 2015 2:10 pm Thank you ShannaLK and questionable! How did you go with the your quote @designer-crete? What a great idea with putting the deck up stairs!! I have a little update on ours. Our plans finally got approved by the estate and are currently in council... YAY! Should start building by end of june!! Re: Has anyone built with Hotondo? 25May 27, 2015 2:54 pm Congrats kd84! The fun is about to begin I drove past mine today, looks like they are finally starting the roof, the bricks started a week or two ago and has progressed very slowly for some reason, today rain was forecasted but the roofers are there working away, not sure how much they'll get done but I'll be swinging past again on my way home to see Re: Has anyone built with Hotondo? 26May 27, 2015 7:42 pm Congratulations to you both! Glad to hear of some progress. We finally have things moving for us too. The land is registered and will settle early June. Has been a long 6 months waiting for that to happen. We also have sold our house so once that settles the build can commence. Looking at July/August. So excited it's finally all happening! I'll have to check out your blog shannalk and see the progress Re: Has anyone built with Hotondo? 27May 28, 2015 10:01 pm Hooray questionable! You must be getting excited about it now with settlement so close, congrats I have to update the blog again as we now have most of a roof, but I haven't got a photo yet as I couldn't get out there before dark today, I'll try again tomorrow Re: Has anyone built with Hotondo? 28Jun 18, 2015 1:29 pm How is everyones progress going? We finally have land (i.e settled)! Hotondo are putting in council paperwork soon. I really can't wait to see the house start growing! Re: Has anyone built with Hotondo? 31Sep 10, 2015 5:21 pm Sorry, been a while since I've popped into these forums! How is everyone going with their builds? We have started on the bricks now. Had a few delays due to bad weather but otherwise things are progressing well. Hope to have hand over mid January 2016 provided no major hurdles come up. Love seeing the house take shape and so far very pleased with our local hotondo1 Re: Has anyone built with Hotondo? 32Sep 10, 2015 6:04 pm Good to hear your build is powering ahead. Ours is still going. We are due to move in mid-October, but I'm thinking we'll miss that date. We are at fixing stage, been waiting for the tiler for 2 weeks now. Last week all they achieved was cutting some holes in the ceiling for the a/c ducts. That's the downside of living in a regional location I guess. I know if the tiler isn't available he isn't available but it's frustrating all the same. I was warned by several people that once you hit lock-up everything seems to slow right down but having next to nothing done each week seems just a bit too slow. Went to check the house yesterday afternoon and nothing had happened up to that point. Didn't bother going again to check today as I'm tired of being disappointed at the progress, might check it tomorrow afternoon. Re: Has anyone built with Hotondo? 33Sep 10, 2015 8:55 pm That's incredibly frustrating shannaLK, So sorry to hear. I can understand if things are progressing slowly, but to have nothing done for days at a time is just a pain. Are they giving you regular updates as to why things arent progressing ? I suppose that's the one thing we appreciate here, at least where things have gone wrong (ie they ordered our windows in the wrong colour so took 2 weeks to be sorted), they let us know straight away and continued working on other things in the meanwhile. Hoping they can stick to their schedule and you are in by the end of the year. Fingers are crossed for you! Re: Has anyone built with Hotondo? 34Sep 10, 2015 9:32 pm Most of the updates I get I already know about and don't tell me anything useful. For all I know my builder is tearing his hair out waiting for trades to turn up too. I noticed this week though that the laundry linen cupboard door is not the same as it is on the plan, it's supposed to be a sliding door like a mini wardrobe but instead they've just put on a regular door...not sure if I prefer that or not, I haven't told my OH either...I know it'd p!ss him right off so I'm going to think on it before I tell him LOL Re: Has anyone built with Hotondo? 35Sep 11, 2015 9:18 pm Yeah I found Hotondo peeps! sarahl86 & kd84 we are neighbours! I'm also building with Port Stephens branch, building the Stockton 380 on 2 acres in Wallalong. We decided on Hotondo because we could get a bigger house with our modifications cheaper than any of the other builders & the service. Paul, Jason & Laurel are all so lovely, they've become part of our family. Thats a pain about a different door. I really hope we dont have to come across things like this. We were lucky we noticed the windows were the wrong colour before they installed them, as I think the builders wouldnt have known and installed them regardless. Re: Has anyone built with Hotondo? 37Nov 01, 2015 6:54 pm Sorry I haven't been able to write here, for some reason it wouldn't let me on my phone? After a very slow process, we have finally started on our house!! Slab, frame and windows are installed, roof will be done hopefully by Tuesday! so exciting to watch it all unfold! @butlersacct1 They are all fantastic there! Poor Laurel has been putting up with me all year, I think I owe her something special lol Re: Has anyone built with Hotondo? 38Nov 01, 2015 7:40 pm We have 3 weeks until handover. Should have been finished by now but there has been a lot of delays with pretty much all the trades, the latest being the shower screens which won't go in until a few days before handover. Final fit out for electrical and possibly plumbing this week along with driveway, paths, portico and alfresco concreting as well. Carpet happens next week. So so close, and I'm getting stressed with the rent and mortgage payments dragging on. Re: Has anyone built with Hotondo? 40Nov 12, 2015 1:31 pm We had a very bad experience with Hotondo in VIC; I cannot call them builder. After four months stress, wasting time, no building progress and loosing our deposit, we decided to go with a new local builder and we are now happy with them! Hi All, we are starting to think of building with Masterpiece Builders in Victoria, has anyone had any feedback or experience with them 0 13468 Hi we are looking to talk to people who have built with them recently. We have signed mid range built contract but identified that a lot of things are not included.… 0 628 wondering anyone built with omaxe homes and care to share their experiences. thanks 0 13777 |
