Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 12, 2015 4:31 pm Hi all,
We are currently building a new home with Simonds and I urgently need some advice about a contract issue. We requested 3x stacking sliding doors from our consultant and gave him the model number which he confirmed in writing with us. At contract stage he must have passed on the wrong model. We wanted DAD2130-3 and he's written DSD2130-3. This is just a 3 panel regular sliding door. Unfortunately, we didn't pick up the difference on our contract between DAD & DSD and you can't tell on the drawings. They have just been installed and Simonds are pushing it back on us. We have emails showing our request for DAD which we have shared with them but they aren't budging. Up until now we have had a good build. I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to work with them on this. As these are also fitted with smart glass, they are worth about $8000 all up. Any help appreciated! Re: Build mistake - advice needed 2Jan 12, 2015 4:40 pm Check on the contract for what you have been charged for. If you have been charged the extra dollars for the one you want you have a better case to get the door replaced. The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Re: Build mistake - advice needed 3Jan 12, 2015 4:44 pm Yeah, thanks for that suggestion. They are saying that we have only been charged for the ones we have but I am waiting on a response from Dowell (the manufacturers) to find out the prices. Anyone else out there had a price on these doors from Simonds? Re: Build mistake - advice needed 4Aug 18, 2020 8:38 pm OMG, I know this is quite a late post but I can't believe I am having the same issue at the moment. From the beginning of our meetings with the builder, we've requested an XXO Sliding Door (which is like the DAD2130-3) and it was all correct in all the drawings and earlier documents (which we signed) but for some reason, during the final contract stage (which we signed again!), they've changed it to OXO Sliding Door (DSD2130-3), which I did not even realised cuz it was missing one arrow on each of the sliding doors drawing (which we missed) and only mentioned as "Sliding Door" in the specification. So what happened to your issue @Nick5623 ? I'm still waiting for an answer or solution from the builder. I'd say his post is a gold nugget and a timely warning to check all your contract documents and build stages, ask question and post a record of your build on this forum...also it helps others My2c As for the regulators I doubt they will go after builders atm, they are too busy freeing up the builders with grants to do as they like? Cheers Chris Hi, Thanks for that~~ Yes we definitely realised that we need to re-check again and again. I guess we trusted them a bit too much. Can't believe we are all paying these builders so much for them to keep messing up. I'll look into different shower heads and ask the plumber about some engineering and see what he says. Thanks 2 9570 Unless there were unforeseeable issues with the site, I dont think you should have to pay for contractors errors or poor planning. I'd probably try and be reasonable and… 5 4558 |
