Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our new home- plaster onsite, yard cleared 261Sep 27, 2017 9:01 pm So we were wrong in thinking the bricks weren't complete.. turns out after using our brains a little that there will be eaves there at the point of the top of the window, so they don't need to go higher. Plaster was supposed to be onsite yesterday, but arrived today and so it was supposed to be installed today but hopefully will start tomorrow instead. Atleast something happened today- the bobcat was onsite clearing up all the mess from the brickies, so the yards nice and clean. Re: Our new home- Plaster 262Oct 02, 2017 10:44 pm So after the long weekend, they are back onsite installing our plaster. Got the roof on and the lowest part of the walls on.. Looking different inside! The replacement double glazed windows are now onsite. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Boring photo- the front hallway entrance. Supposed to have had painters onsite today.. couple of days out now. Kitchen was supposed to go in this Friday, doubt that will happen as well. Re: Our new home 263Oct 02, 2017 11:14 pm The plastering is one of the most exciting bits! There is a patch of white swiped over the bricks- Will this come off over time or will it need to be acid washed? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Cleaned bricks- bit hard to see. The pillars will be rendered and painted monument like the roof- as previously mentioned. Re: Our new home 265Oct 04, 2017 7:22 pm I didn't really go onsite today. I pulled up and looked at the house at a glance, and thought it looked different today, but I didn't really look too much because there was a truck there delivering buckets and bags of plaster?? I was sending hubby messages about what was getting delivered and by the time I actually looked up and realised the bricks were clean it was nearly time to go back to work and they were having their lunch in there. So I just walked into my bedroom and into the hallway and looked at the bricks and the front of the house only. Will go back again tomorrow anyway. Wonder what will happen tomorrow? More plastering, the bathroom waterproof sheets, painting? Re: Our new home 266Oct 04, 2017 7:42 pm The bricks will probably get cleaned again, we were told they get a second hand wash near the end. Wasn't sure whether to believe that since I've never heard that anywhere before. Looks like you need cornice next. Then they let the joins dry, sand and repeat the whole process again. Then chippy will come in and do your skirts, arcs and doors before paint. https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_ ... are_type=t Re: Our new home 267Oct 04, 2017 7:51 pm Yeah maybe I'll get hubby to ask next time he speaks to either the site supervisor or the ordering guy. Yep we have cornices onsite today! So hopefully tomorrow they get put on. So I guess from that painting probably won't start till Friday at the earliest! I have said they were about 2 days out, Kitchen was supposedly getting put in on Friday, but that was being done after the base coat of paint! Went to the house expecting cornices, noticed 4 cars and a truck at the house and the pillars have been rendered!! Got excited called the hubby to let him know and was taking photos and the plasterer says to me there is cupboards inside! They weren't expecting that and neither were we! So today: Cornices are in, plasterer will be back tomorrow morning to finish up. Cabinet makers were here today and have put in the kitchen, bathroom, ensuite, laundry and will be back on Wednesday to finalise everything. First layer of render done on the pillars. Internal doors, the man hole and the architraves and skirting boards arrived! I am about to do cross fit so I will leave this here for the moment and upload a few more later. Dont mind my editing. Notice the smaller handles we have throughout the house, but they have put the larger one on the pot drawers, I think that will be better anyway. Better not spill the flour! Will have to clean it up hahaha. Re: Our new home 271Oct 10, 2017 10:56 pm Few things that happened today; termite reticulation put around the house, the green things in the bricks have been turned (at least a couple of them have, some hadn't) builder has been in and cut all the architraves to size and got the door and jams ready, plastering was finished. Bricks have been redone in a few spots- I noticed a bit of cracking between the brick joins on the window sill under the alfresco, they have been replaced at some stage although I'm not sure when, probably at the same stage the ones above my bedroom window. We hadn't yet informed them of the cracks so they must have picked these up and just fixed it. Not much else happening over the next week, just getting things ready for painting, I'm guessing the doors will be hung. The cabinet maker will be in tomorrow to finish their bits, I know they have to put the cupboard that goes above the fridge in and put a few end pieces but i'm not sure if there is anything else. The painter is currently on a big job out of town so he wont start until Monday now. Tiles will be delivered in about 2 weeks, then tiling will be done maybe week after. Christmas is looking good, fingers crossed it stays this way. Re: Our new home- Internal doors 272Oct 11, 2017 10:48 pm Bricks cleaned again today where they have been replaced. Still unsure as to why they did them, but noticed a few spots they have re-done. Seen the second coat of render- it looks heaps better already. Went for a stroll inside- I do wonder what they all think when they see me there every day! We have doors on and the door jams/frames are all on, architraves all done and the two extra double glazed windows have been installed this afternoon (I will have to check these out tomorrow as they weren't done when I went through). Skirting boards to be done tomorrow. So exciting- doesn't seem like much to go! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Rendering complete? Now for a coat of paint. The front porch roof was done, still got the panels for the feature they may come a bit later? but may have to be painted so?? maybe tomorrow. They aren't onsite yet at least. So good. Loving this. Painting should start Monday, thought they mentioned 2 weeks before this is complete? Is that correct? Its a spray painted base coat, then 2 hand painted coats. Do they let you onsite whilst painting? I guess its better if we stay out! With all the dust about. Re: Our new home 276Oct 13, 2017 7:56 am mine was a little over 2 weeks (but slack painter) they need to do prep and tape/cover everything and then for labor and dry time Think 2 weeks is about right for 3 coats. First coat of paint to go on tomorrow. We had the stone mason onsite yesterday, sometime after lunch, so got another surprise today when I went there. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ They forgot to put the power point in the stone down the other end, wonder if they will have to take the panel off or can do onsite? I think it should look alright when the splash back is in and its finished. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Got a dark floor tile as the splashback in here, the ensuite and laundry.. dont know if it will look any good, I dont think it will but oh well too bad. I would love to have a hexagonal patten or something in greys and whites in the ensuite, but didnt want to pay for it. Re: Our new home- Painting 279Oct 21, 2017 2:53 pm Painter was working today. Thats always a good thing! The roof is completely done, inside, he was doing the garage today when we called past- the cornices. Not sure what else he will do. I think the undercoat that he has sprayed on the walls is the colour we are having painted- I quiet like it. Its dark when you compare it to the white ceiling but when you look at it straight on it doesn't look it and just looks like a white. Makes such a difference! Noticed he has flicked some paint on the stone and laminate in the kitchen! Hope they can clean that off alright! The downpipes plumbing have been readied, they don't stick out a metre now- the bend in the pipes has been put in so they sit against the bottom of the house- should see the actual down pipes soon I guess? After the paint has been done under the eaves? Tiler has been booked for next week- although hubby mentioned something about a wedding and honey moon so I'm not sure what that means for my build time! Re: Our new home 280Oct 22, 2017 9:35 pm not sure if I mentioned this or not I think perhaps I did, there is paint on the grey laminate and on the stone benches- urghh.. I've also noticed a few gouges into the walls, plaster has been knocked off in one coner- Im sure these things will get fixed But need to put it somewhere so I remember! Also the render on one of the pillars has been chipped... Good news our broken glass window in the bathroom has been fixed. The garage looked nice and bright today when we drove past- its been painted, with one more layer to go? Cant wait to see lights and fans go in.... they will be happening soon after the painters finished??
