There is only one other in my area, another house with the brick is 45 minutes away, anyway the one near us looks brown in the bright sunlight but grey at other times, I think ours will look a bit better then theirs too because they have a lighter grey roof, garage etc then monument and it kinda blends all together. bank The rendering looks great! I like the monument pillars, they will look great with those bricks I was actually worried the pillars might be a bit dark! Originally was thinking of doing a mid grey maybe like woodland grey (I cant remember the colourbond colours that I was looking at. easy way to narrow my choice by just using colourbond colours haha), and I thought I could always change it from the dark later on if it was too dark, but then realised there is a gutter on one of the pillars that is in the monument. So just hoping for the best Cant wait though however it turns out! First and second deposit has been paid, planning permits and everything is good to go! So just waiting on the building to actually start now! I believe it should be MONDAY!!! Re: Our new home 205Jul 29, 2017 8:49 pm PeterMarshall We both really like the Honeystone brick colour, however I think it could best suit the lighting colours and that I think I would rather the dark, vibrant colors. More similar to your inside colors. So now we are leaning towards the ironstone.Samples of those bricks: ironstone, Honeystone and goldfield haze. custom homes in pensacola HI Peter, I tend to agree with you about the lighter colours suiting the honeystone better, that wasn't the look I was after. Have you seen the goldfield haze in sample/on a house? We quite liked that colour, was going to be our choice before we changed builders, and I think that you could have a darker colour with that (originally I had it mixed with wallaby or gully, or woodland grey and the lighter colours also evening haze seemed nice with it too. However as you say the ironstone definitely suits the darker colours, certainly choose what your going to be happier with in the long run! I think I prefer the darker colours and some of the red bricks more than the lighter bricks and features. I think they will stay cleaner looking than a lighter colour, i.e. won't notice the cobwebs as much??? As we were leaving they had the digger back out and he was moving all that grey rock into a pile, I wonder if that means tomorrow it will be flattened out? Aim is for slab on/by Friday. FINALLY! bank It's so good to see you finally underway! Your land looks so flat! https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_ ... are_type=t Haha it slopes a little to the back and the driveway will be a little hill- its definitely not flat flat though it slopes maybe around 350mm over the entire block? Next doors is flat. Compared to lots of other peoples builds you could probably call it flat though! haha Hubby picked the kids up from school and they took a detour past the block/house? and they have finished with the rio, they let him go on site and take some photos. I thought they would be ready to pour the concrete but apparently they have to finish the boxing up on Monday and then pour will be on Thursday. Apparently the piers are all concreted now though. Re: Our new home- Slab!! 212Aug 17, 2017 8:13 pm So rain hail or shine, we got our slab poured today!!! Day 9 since they started onsite. (I am counting weekends too) I was told that they would make a decision this morning whether they would pour or not. I woke up maybe around 7.45am or so sat there for awhile and noticed it was raining and immediately got grumpy! Anyway started to drive the boys over to school and hubby calls so I had DS1 answer the phone and our neighbour/friend sent him a message to say it was getting poured. So I was happy again! Apparently the rain caused an issue at one point they had to take out the concrete and re-do a section. But its all good now its started to 'crust up'. If the wood is delivered tomorrow then they will start building the frame! Roof trusses still organised for delivery and installation on Wednesday! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Meter Box and slab! It was only spitting at this stage, but when I got in the car it started bucketing down. The slab wasn't quite finished yet at this point (9amish). Re: Our new home- Frame 213Aug 21, 2017 7:45 pm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Frame has started! They cut all the frame onsite excluding the roof trusses. I went back about 30 minutes after my first visit and they had virtually finished laying out all the rooms. I even got to walk through the house!! I was discussing where we would put things and the boss builder asked if we would like to come onsite and have a walk through.... umm yes! So I walked through the door ways etc, hubby walked through walls haha. We have been through our plan once, however when we swapped the garage and master bedroom around and doing that have made the study and the laundry bigger so it was good too see the difference it made. EEEKK Cant wait for tomorrow! Hoping tomorrow we might actually have an upright wall! Been waiting so long for this so happy its finally started! Re: Our new home 217Aug 21, 2017 8:32 pm Frame is fun!! When you can walk through and get your first sense of your future house. It was absolutely pouring down with rain the day I saw mine XD Hopefully they keep moving quickly so you can get to lock-up. Re: Our new home- Roof! 218Aug 24, 2017 9:10 pm Trusses came yesterday. Roof put on today! Looking good? The facade is going to be tall and there isnt much room at the front for a garden its a 5m setback to the front of the pillars. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Back yard. The house is a little longer than the original but narrower so we have a side and back yard now. I was a little concerned it would be too small however going round the back of the block today it doesnt feel so bad! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The back of the house, we have an alfresco now! There is only the one window at the back here that is a bedroom and too the right is the 2 kids walk in robes. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Hubby went for a walk through again today, the photo is standing in the living looking over to the dining room, with the kitchen on the left. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Looking out into the back yard through the dining room windows. This was one of the things I didn't think about changing until after we signed contracts and energy rating done- the left window you see is taller than the bigger window. Didnt worry about changing it. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Our new home 219Aug 25, 2017 8:49 pm Didn't go onsite today, but we both still went there over the course of the day. Apparently we got gutters onsite today!! They weren't there when I went at lunchtime or I completely missed them (more likely haha). A bit of scaffolding is up at the front of the house around the porch today too, not sure why its only there. Hubby spoke with the man (not site supervisor, but the guy who does all the ordering for everything) who has been informing us of progress. Anyway roof will be getting done next week and bricks are two weeks away? He did say something else but I cant remember what he said. So, roof and gutters, electrical? wrap? what else in this stage normally?
