Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 16, 2008 2:00 pm I am interested to see what sort of problems you experienced during their 3 months maintenance period after moved in?
This is our 3rd week in the new house, we already have the following problems: 1. spa in ensuite leaks even though it was tested and fixed at least twice a few months ago, now we have water dripping downstair through service hole 2. gap filler around the spa cracks (where spa bath tub joins the wall tiles) and shows a huge gap when we use it for the first time last week 3. main bath tub was ok in first week, start getting dripping water through service hole as well from a few days a ago 4. kitchen tap leaks very annoying, all plumbing related.... Re: Problems during your maintenance period? 2Jun 16, 2008 8:02 pm If the security door in my laundry locks, the one on the front door won't. If the one on the front door locks, the laundry one doesn't... all depends on the weather.
Sometimes the door on my main toilet is hard to open, again it depends on the weather. The study door doesn't close properly - doesn't depend on the weather at all. Some d***head didn't bother to put the pin in the bottom hinge on the door for my WIR so I fixed it when the door nearly fell on top of me. Oh and my wonderful water tank pump had one night when it didn't stop running all night. The plumber came out, said the hose was kinked and he would be back in 2 days to fix it... 3 weeks later he came back, put a new hose on and the pump worked for the next hour (meaning when I flushed the toilet, the pump came on). Then it stopped working. So I went and switched it on and off a few times, and it worked for another hour before it stopped again. Now I've decided to put it on the 3 month maintenance list because I don't want to start waiting for the plumber again. Received keys to my new home on 16/5/08 Re: Problems during your maintenance period? 3Jun 16, 2008 8:06 pm Allan, sounds like your plumber was drunk when he plumbed your house.
These things should not happen!! Colleen, good to hear the WIR door didnt fall on you. Again it was the stupidity of the builders!! Cant they get anything right? My first thought was (in not quite as nice, sedate words) "oh dear, I've broken my new house". It was kind of good to realise it wasn't my fault Received keys to my new home on 16/5/08 Re: Problems during your maintenance period? 5Jun 16, 2008 8:38 pm Colleen Paula Colleen, good to hear the WIR door didnt fall on you. According to wife, after he removed the drain from spa and put in new one, it leaks even more! Then he started using lots of silicons to fill the gaps, and it still leaks. After almost 3 hours of work, wife stopped him as we expect it to be fixed "properly". This is a new house, not a 20-30 years house and treat it like a handyman style leak fixing..... Complaint to the company and another hopefully more senior plumber, plus their maintenance manager will be on site on Wednesday...
