Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 03, 2015 6:09 pm Hi everyone, I’ve been reading a lot here so thought I’d join and participate. We are building a house in a fairly new estate in Dubbo, NSW. Block settlement is this Tuesday 6th and we should have a building contract in the next couple of weeks. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I was hoping for some guidance in my colour choices. I would like to go with either Monument or Basalt for my roof & gutter. Dune for fascia, downpipes and garage door with Surfmist for the windows & gable. The bricks I’m leaning to are the PGH Black & Tan (see below) with white or off white flush mortar. Front door colour will match the roof but in metallic. How exciting. Who are you building with? We were going to build a custom design in Wongarbon, but found an existing house we loved. Your plans look like they've been done by Pinedale drafting? I found them great to deal with and have changes made with no fuss. We were going to build with Brett Harvey, probably still will one day! Look forward to following your progress! Re: Custom build in Dubbo, NSW 5Jan 04, 2015 6:36 am a fantastic plan looking forward to following your build Re: Custom build in Dubbo, NSW 7Jan 29, 2015 10:09 pm This week we had soil tests back, bank approval, contracts signed and plans went to council this afternoon. The builder is keen on starting ours ASAP as he has a few other builds coming up as well. Unfortunately our soil test came back as H1-D which increased our costs slightly. My husband has been busy reviewing building/bank contracts, soil reports, etc. so he's looking forward to getting this going. I should have all my inclusions sorted by next week which will be a relief as it very time consuming and brain straining. Re: Custom build in Dubbo, NSW 10Feb 13, 2015 9:44 pm Looks lovely! I love the pgh black and tan bricks. We went with monument roof too. Your plans are fantastic. Really love the rooms you have and the layout. And the progress is great! Hope it all goes smoothly for you. Re: Custom build in Dubbo, NSW 15Mar 13, 2015 6:59 pm Roof is finished and the gyprockers have started. Bricks are suppose to arrive next week. I can't wait as that's the missing piece to find out if my external choices are as I imagined. Husband caught up with the electrician on Monday and we went over our power point allowance, but fortunately not by much which is good. He's also ordered his shed - 9 X 7m!!!!! Still have one more load, but the delivery truck busted a radiator hose. I hope the bricks look OK as I haven't seen them on a house before. Re: Custom build in Dubbo, NSW 19Apr 01, 2015 2:20 pm I can't fault the brickies, they are doing a great job and looks good from my untrained eye. I've never seen these bricks before on a house in real life so I'm keen on seeing them finished and clean.
