Re: Simonds Harcrest - Adelaide Build 25Jan 13, 2015 9:30 pm Hilarious - Adelaide is such a small and wonderful place. Passing the bottle Re: Simonds Harcrest - Adelaide Build 26Jan 14, 2015 9:59 pm Hi there, Looking forward to seeing your progress. We built the Leon with Simonds in Goowla North and got our keys Feb last year. Enjoy the ride:-) Re: Simonds Harcrest - Adelaide Build 27Feb 26, 2015 9:55 pm Hello everyone - I'm still here just!! Been stressed with banks of late so too busy to post etc and I just realized I still didn't get the pictures to work on this blog must work on that........ Demolition approval was approx two weeks so very pleased with that. Tenants moved out last week and we have secured a demolition company. Council approved the new build but confused me with the approval form. It stated approved but then said it wasn't granted!! A quick phone call and the council explained they were satisfied with the plans and now they wait for an independent building supervisor to sign off before returning the plans to council for final approval. So straight forward.....we hope. We had already considered the neighbors privacy and tried to make the build as simple as possible to avoid possible council/neighbor concerns so cross fingers the final approval goes through. As for any other news we heard someone is building the harcrest in Munno Para so hopefully soon Haydn can give us a tour.....Will make it so much easier to visualize. I'm so over looking at the paper plan I want a show home to sit in or at least another build. Hope everyone else is progressing happily. Take care Re: Simonds Harcrest - Adelaide Build 28Feb 27, 2015 10:47 am Hey Pam we got the same notification -- granted but not approved ... Haha. We're going to see the two Avalon show homes right now ... Just approaching Ballarat. We're going to see the Eagles tomorrow night at Hanging Rock. Then to Melbs. We'll see the second display on the way home (near Geelong). If we find a Harcrest, I'll video it for you and upload to YouTube -- see how we go. Not long to go now. Yay! Re: Simonds Harcrest - Adelaide Build 29Feb 27, 2015 7:19 pm Your trip sounds like fun - enjoy especially The Eagles. Great opportunity to visit new show homes, colour schemes and maybe get some new decorating ideas!! Re: Simonds Harcrest - Adelaide Build 30Mar 01, 2015 8:41 pm Oh, there are no Harcrest displays at all! We really didn't like the decor in the Avalon we saw today. But it was good to walk through it to 'try it on'. We got soaked. Hit by lightening, gale-force winds and heavy rain after four songs Concert stopped for 40 minutes. Some of the stage blew apart. Apart from being wet and cold, it was good. They were great. Especially Joe Walsh ... The bomb Re: Simonds Harcrest - Adelaide Build 31Mar 01, 2015 9:04 pm Hey Aussiepam, it's good to see another Adelaide build. Welcome!! Looking forward to seeing pics. We are approaching handover in the next month or so with Dechellis in adeliade so I'll ve living vicariously through others blogs after that!! Good luck with final approvals. Councils are so confusing!! Re: Simonds Harcrest - Adelaide Build 32Mar 07, 2015 5:40 pm Hey Pam, are you still set for your house to start soon? Re: Simonds Harcrest - Adelaide Build 33Mar 07, 2015 5:49 pm Hey TomCat - electricity was disconnected last week, demolition set for next two weeks......just a waiting game now as we have had to ditch our bank and start the whole loan process again!! NOT HAPPY!! Promised the world with pre approval in November but over the last six weeks has repeatedly come back with ridiculous requests - all of which we meet but they kept moving the goal posts . So off to organise somewhere that has people we can actually speak to rather than a bank without branches. Hoping this time we will have the loan advanced and ready for demolition - cross everything. Ah well what doesn't kill you makes you stronger!! How have you been progressing? Re: Simonds Harcrest - Adelaide Build 34Mar 07, 2015 7:56 pm Oh that's no good! Consider going to one of the big four. Although they seem like blood sucking vultures, they are dependable. I have a friend who thought she was saving 1% (or summat) with her loan, but she now feels screwed. I don't know what/why, it's always a similar story though ... When we bought our first house (1989) we used a smaller independent bank that had lower interest rates. That was just before the "recession we had to have" when interest rates skyrocketed. We were paying 1% more than everyone else ... 19% (ouch). Thank goodness we didn't borrow much. After that experience we went to (insert blood sucking vulture name here) and have been with them 20 years. Believe it or not, we feel valued with them and everything is a piece of cake to organise. Rates and packages are very competitive too. And we found you can negotiate somewhat (to waive fees etc). Site supervisor has been to the block ready to start (yay!) but couldn't find the pegs (boo). We know we have three. One's gone AWOL. We reckon they're just buried with topsoil. We'll go out there tomorrow with a shovel to find. Should start soon. Unless we need to survey. Don't want to pay $650 for one that's for sure. Unfortunately there are no Harcrest displays anywhere. But you probably know that. So it makes yours even more special! Re: Simonds Harcrest - Adelaide Build 35Mar 18, 2015 8:59 pm Demolition has begun. Popped over to site this arvo and was shocked (ok nervous excitement) to see the roof off and the demolition happening. Still waiting for the bank but the new one has moved quickly. I shall attempt a photo -but I am not having any luck with adding pictures. Re: Simonds Harcrest - Adelaide Build 39Mar 21, 2015 3:24 pm As always nothing every happens without drama! Drove past the house on Thursday and noticed the green plastic ETSA box had been squashed - presumably by the demolishers truck. Hubby emailed them immediately to advise......but that's not the half of it! Hubby had a relaxing day off planned the next day and decided like I had the day before to drive past the house and check what stage the demolishers were at. Well he arrived to neighbours in the street and arguments going on between them and the demolisher!!! Nothing says WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBOURHOOD like an argument on day three!! Apparently the truck arrived to remove asbestos (only in sheets in the eaves) on the Thursday and the driver tried unsuccessfully to reverse the truck down the council walkway next to our driveway. It seems he thought that was our driveway!!! DOH idiot. Then as he kept trying to manouvre his truck he hit the neighbours brick fence at the otherside of the walkway (we can see no damage) and the neighbours opposite had him on their front lawn (again we see no damage). Hubby spoke briefly to the demolisher and told him to stop shouting and get to work while he tried to speak calmly to the neighbours!!! Managed to calm things down but one neighbour did say she thought the truck driver was drunk! Seems we will be forever concerned about anyone now that comes to the block incase they cause more trouble for the people we will have to live alongside for a long time! We have always had the neighbours in mind, trying to make sure the new build wouldnt raise concerns for them and hoping that we could all enjoy the neighbourhood. We knew that ours is the first 2 storey and the first ever knock down rebuild in the estate so we will have some that dont like what we are doing. Hopefully in time we can show them that we are not ememies!! Anyone else have issues with demolishing companies!!?? Re: Simonds Harcrest - Adelaide Build 40Mar 22, 2015 6:16 pm Yay, it's all happening! That's not your fault. If your neighbours are going to blame you for the ferral demolishers, they'll pick on anyone about anything coz they are just miserable gits. I'm overly pragmatic coz I know I got a d*p$h*t neighbour, haven't even started building yet but there's nothing I can do about it. Hey, I reckon they'll love the fact that a fancy-smancy house is going to bring some sunshine to their street - brighten up the place and start boosting property values in the area.
