Re: Simonds Harcrest - Adelaide Build 486Dec 18, 2015 4:12 pm A little disappointed to find out that the gas meter cannot be installed to Jan 6th!!!!! Not the builders fault at all but the gas providers. Its because we missed the AGL cut off date by 12 hours!! So no hot water or cooking until then....over xmas as well. NOT HAPPY as the website says allow three days! "To arrange for the connection of your electricity or gas, call us 24/7 on 131 245. IMPORTANT: If you are moving within the next 3 business days you should call us immediately to avoid delays." It should mention that they have a quota and they have filled that already for the next two weeks.....needless to say I asked for someone higher and have been given a possible booking for Tuesday 22/12 (our moving day) although it comes down to the installers if they dont want to accept it they wont! SOOOOOOOO keep everything crossed for a smooth moving day with the gas man making an appearance or I maybe asking friends and family for cooked food and hot showers for the four of us for the next two week. Still on cloud nine although with our temperatures this week and into next feels a little bit more like hell Re: Simonds Harcrest - Adelaide Build 487Dec 18, 2015 4:18 pm Pooh! I rang AGL yesterday ... Still waiting for them to return my call. So it's obvious how that's going to turn out Just going past(ish) your joint now ... Going to have one last peek in the window before it's all mine. Yeah, the heat! What a stinker!!! You will enjoy cold showers and fresh/raw food Oh summat else ... I think u should give your expert advice on the laundry chute design thread EDIT: Here it is - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81199 Re: Simonds Harcrest - Adelaide Build 488Dec 18, 2015 8:55 pm Congratulations !!!! What a lovely Christmas present. Just on the gas note - when we called AGL we were told origin does all Adelaide's gas meter installs - so please ring Origin direct and see - we called on Monday this week and it was connected Wednesday. Have PMed both of you. Re: Simonds Harcrest - Adelaide Build 489Dec 19, 2015 7:20 am Our meter is already installed? Weird that you guys are having to organise it! Did I miss the pictures of the chute??? Or are we waiting for a grand reveal? Weird that you guys are having to organise it! Did I miss the pictures of the chute??? Or are we waiting for a grand reveal? ROFL - grand reveal -- maybe I need a red curtain to unveil! It is installed however the doors delivered were the wrong size so new ones were ordered. They arrived and have now been painted waiting for install - photos probably wont do the chute justice BUT it is very close to what I expected from the begining. Yeah Re: Simonds Harcrest - Adelaide Build 491Dec 19, 2015 7:35 am bluesteel Congratulations !!!! What a lovely Christmas present. Anything to get a definate connection time/date Re: Simonds Harcrest - Adelaide Build 492Dec 19, 2015 6:45 pm AGL rang me back today! Said they were onto it. I then gave phone to Mr because bill is in his name ... they adked to talk to him. He starts to haggle discount (can u believe you can bargain with your energy provider ... Crazy world!) Not sure what's happening now. Sounded like it was left up in the air. Mr said summat to consultant about checking out other deals with other providers. Said we're not in a hurry. Do I need to do everything around here lol Re: Simonds Harcrest - Adelaide Build 493Dec 19, 2015 9:44 pm TomCat AGL rang me back today! Said they were onto it. Do I need to do everything around here lol MEN!! lol I phoned Origin on there Saturday connection phone line only to be told that they only operate on weekdays so I called AGL back to confirm the call yesterday. Its a definate install for Tuesday AM - so happy here. Really dont like having to be bossy or throw weight around but really 6th Jan is not acceptable. So hopefully we can have a roast for xmas but more importantly my family tradition on making muffins on xmas morning will still go ahead Tired after a 12 hour day in the house cleaning, packing and upacking as well as travelling to our current home to pack more. Off to bed to snooze and dream its Wednesday when its all been done and I am at last in Re: Simonds Harcrest - Adelaide Build 494Dec 19, 2015 9:53 pm Fantastically exciting!!! It's a big job moving eh? Tis why we've lived here 25 years but not just the moving is painful ... It's all the 'jobs' that have to be done to establish. Your home is looking mashing Pam ... Really, really lovely Finally in. So unbelievable Re: Simonds Harcrest - Adelaide Build 495Dec 20, 2015 7:03 am TomCat 8) Fantastically exciting!!! It's a big job moving eh? So unbelievable Oohh yeah After moving every seven years or so I hope to put down roots and never move again. If hubby wants to move he can 😉 Certainly hard work at whatever stage of life - with or without kids. Emotionally and physically. Thx - the house is great and happy with our choices so far. The cleaning people don't do a "move straight in clean" only a "find any faults clean"...so as you have time before you move Id recommend you do a good clean. It will also help reveal more fixes ( not a lot but things like a chipped bathroom tile, cupboards that are not adjusted properly and more paint touch ups) About to get up for another day - I've reached the kitchen and butler's only them and windows to clean now 😊 Re: Simonds Harcrest - Adelaide Build 496Dec 21, 2015 7:53 pm Twelve hour days take there toll when you're getting on a bit I worked a full day at work (last for three weeks- holidays yeah) and collapsed on the bed for a ten minute rest before dinner at the pub now back to finalize packing as the removalists arrive tomorrow morning. Still lots to do including three loads of washing as I'm not sure how long hubby will take to reinstall - he hasn't stopped for three weeks so can't ask for more ? We did pop past briefly as the window furnishings and roller doors were installed today. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Very very happy. Hubby also installed the extra blinds we ordered online for the wet rooms. Wasn't planned but he slept overnight and felt open to the neighborhood especially when he went to the downstairs toilet to see the old lady next door out on her verandah - lucky for him she is deaf and blind😂 rofl Will take a break for a week (she says that now knowing full well she can't stay away from the forum!) So much still to be done to make the house a home and of course more photos to come. Merry Christmas to all my supportive, funny, talented home designer friends out there. If you are in your home for your first Christmas take time to enjoy what you created and if you are still to move in take time for a few drinks ooops sorry 😉take time to enjoy Christmas knowing that next year holds many exciting moments yet to be created in your dream home ?🎄⛄ Re: Simonds Harcrest - Adelaide Build 497Dec 21, 2015 9:08 pm aussiepam1327 Twelve hour days take there toll when you're getting on a bit I worked a full day at work (last for three weeks- holidays yeah) and collapsed on the bed for a ten minute rest before dinner at the pub now back to finalize packing as the removalists arrive tomorrow morning.
