Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 27, 2014 3:54 pm Hey all.. Would appreciate advice and your experience on double sided gas fireplace flued. I was going with jetmaster STHVBI heat and glo but thought maybe it may be too big.. 1.2m(w). Today I spoke with retail guy at Harvey Norman who swears by the Real Flame Captiva island. Both jetmaster and real flame took up to 10min to hear up but even then I didn't feel it was generating enough heat for the 100sqm for my new open plan living area. Would appreciate your input... Especially if you own a double sided (or three sided) flued fireplace! Re: Two sided fireplace efficiency and heating 2Jan 01, 2015 12:43 pm About five of my clients have installed both the JM and Heat n' Glo gas fireplaces and swear by them particularly the Hn'G. The fact that they bring in air from outside to burn for the heat rather than oxygen in the room is a bonus. Check the specs for any that you are considering as they will tell you how big an area each model will heat. I'd only consider an island type if the area like a lounge backing onto a dining room could be shut off from the rest of the house. They might look cool but I'm wondering if they might be form over function. Stewie Re: Two sided fireplace efficiency and heating 6Jan 02, 2015 3:11 pm So my update today..
