Browse Forums Building A New House Re: New here :) and building! 21Jan 25, 2015 5:22 pm We are also doing our driveway and landscaping ourselves. We had a quote from Coral for the driveway, but for around the same price we could get not only the driveway but all our paths done. Just gotta make sure the termite barrier goes down as part of it. Re: New here :) and building! 22Feb 07, 2015 9:46 am So it looks like the bank is finally coming to the party yay!... next step for us is waiting on the tender. Seems like a slow process to get the ball rolling but no doubt it will go fast once its all got the go ahead. Land looks like it will be registered May or June which is great too Re: New here :) and building! 23Feb 07, 2015 10:45 am Wow must be a big driveway! I don't know the exact cost of mine as its just included in the price, but some numbers I got told my other builders were around 3k (for 3.5x5m) Looks like you've picked your builder. Good luck with it all. Post lots of photos! Re: New here :) and building! 24Feb 07, 2015 10:47 am aloenyx Wow must be a big driveway! Gosh I hope we didnt miss anything haha New here :) and building! 32Feb 14, 2015 3:01 am s_mack We went through 3 tenders and countless estimates. I knew that sucker back to front by the end of it! Same ! And there were still errors in the contract! Took them a number of attempts to get the main post contract variation right too. Re: New here :) and building! 35Feb 26, 2015 9:30 am lisalent our contract is due tomorrow, did you guys get a solicitor to look over it before signing? Ta Yay!! Congrats. We didn't have a solicitor read over ours. I went through it all but it was a pretty standard HIA contract. It was even in language a normal person can understand Re: New here :) and building! 36Feb 26, 2015 9:31 am s_mack lisalent our contract is due tomorrow, did you guys get a solicitor to look over it before signing? It was even in language a normal person can understand awesome thanks and yaaaaay Re: New here :) and building! 37Feb 27, 2015 7:19 pm contract came today, just a few tiny things to change/adjust and we are good to go. We have our tile appt on Tuesday too so thats exciting. One question - we are building the Noosa 25 with the plan flipped. We will be buying a new fridge for the house but are concerned about not being able to open the door enough for the crisper to come out...there is the pantry wall right near it, does anyone have this issue or know what I am talking about? LOL Re: New here :) and building! 38Feb 27, 2015 7:24 pm Congrats Lisalent! Glad to hear nothing major to change. Hopefully your contract was simple language like ours We are also buying a new fridge but have selected one with push button open and recessed handles to ensure it can open up fully. Means there are no protruding handles to get in the way. Re: New here :) and building! 39Feb 27, 2015 7:33 pm Lisa you will need to check the fridge cavity depth vs the actual fridge depth. If the door protrudes out a but in front of the cavity you will get more clearance to open the door wider. For reference, this is the Austlii reference.
