Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 19, 2014 7:56 pm Hi all, First time builder. So naturally have a few concerns that probably wouldn't worry most others. Hoping to see if anyone here has built a house with their garage on the boundary, next to a house with their garage on the boundary? Our garages are roughly 15cm's apart or the width of the guttering. And because the bricklayer has had to lay our bricks from the inside of the house, we are concerned the finish to the outside of the garage wall wont be that great. We were told by our builder that excess mortar will be scrapped off as they go, but the wall is almost complete and because there is a gap that you can see from the street between the two houses, some of the excess mortar that has been left is visible from the street. Also it looks like some of the bricks don't sit directly on top of eachother, almost like a stacked stone effect and am wondering what sort of tolerances a builder is allowed in this situation? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Hope ive managed to explain it well enough lol. Most people end up bridging the gap with fencing after handover to hide the small gap. We build 10mm in from the boundary. My house and my neighbours house have garages that sit only 20mm apart. When I had our roof done… 3 7061 |
