I love your bathroom tiles especially! I don't think I would have ever thought to choose them but I LOVE the way it looks! Coming together beautifully! Re: Alex's first home build: Cabinetry 64May 12, 2015 9:22 am Thanks Justin. I've suffered a bit from colour choice anxiety. After pre start I had forgotten what the colours looked like together, and have worried that they wouldn't work. My next concern is the flooring. I went back to the shop the other day to look again, still not sure if it's too Grey, or if the colour will scale well etc. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And the front render colour is a concern too, probably too Brown for our Grey scheme. Considering my partner is an art teacher, I should have a bit more trust in our choices. The tiles worked out well, so I think the others will too. When they left for their holiday the house was at plaster float stage, so things have changed dramatically since they saw it last. It was a nice surprise to see the fence had been almost completely erected (only needed panels down one more side, the frame was in place). I was expecting this to happen in the first half of June. The electrician has also completed their work. Power points, light switches/fitting, oven and rangehood are all installed. The bits and pieces are waiting for the plumber (hot water system, toilets etc), so hopefully that will happen shortly. The pavers have also been delivered, so I am hoping the bad weather only sticks around for this weekend and things are bright and sunny again next week. I can really feel it getting close now. My estimates are around 4 more weeks. Follow my build here: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=74975 Re: Alex's first home build: Cabinetry 66May 15, 2015 10:11 pm Awesome that's super exciting!!!! Yeaaaah! Re: Alex's first home build: Cabinetry 67May 19, 2015 1:38 pm Oh wow everything is happening so quickly! Your bathroom tiles look great!! Love that big bench space in your kitchen too Re: Alex's first home build: Cabinetry 68May 23, 2015 8:27 pm So we popped in today thinking nothing had been done this week (except the insulation which was installed) but came across a pleasant surprise the mirrors and shower screens were in. We were expecting another 2 weeks manufacturing time for them. The inside painting for doors, shelves etc should be done by Friday, which completes the internal enough so that next week we can get cleaned and have the flooring laid and blinds installed the week after. The paving is due late this week or early next week, garage door to follow and external painting the week after as one of the final actions. If all goes to plan we should be at pci within 4 weeks and keys in 6. I have a feeling the builder is pushing to get my final payment before the new financial year. Love these they are grey but a nice warm grey I think if that makes sense Re: Alex's first home build: Shower screens and mirrors 75May 31, 2015 11:18 pm Things are tracking together lovely, great selections there Alex Re: Alex's first home build: Shower screens and mirrors 76Jun 01, 2015 12:54 am Dropped by today and the internal door and shelf painting was competed, along with the front door. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The garage door was also installed, which surprised me. I expected the paving to be done first. Really happy with the design of door that we chose. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The door from the garage to the back yard was also there. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I also noticed the exhaust fan for the first time. It looks really fancy. I was planning on installing more fans in the toilet and kids bathroom, looks like I will be shelling out a few more pennies to keep them the same design. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The flooring is booked in for Friday, so we will be able to see how well the Grey floor looks. The paving should also be completed by then, exciting week ahead. The only problem I have for this is that during the internal clean this week they will most likely close the window that I have been strategically leaving about 1 mm open to get access to the house. Up close photos may have to wait until pci now, which should be about 3 weeks away. On another note, we went for a walk down by the beach about 10 minutes from our place today. The view was absolutely spectacular. I really love this part of the world. Same garage door as mine, different colour though! Lovely being so close to the beach! I am excited about my place for the same reasons! I've refrained from commenting on your thread because you have enough people to reply to as it is! I'm really lucky that I haven't had to deal with the issues you had. My place has a couple of things I've noticed, but I'm not supposed to be inside to see them, so I can't ask the ss about them. Thank you Alex, you're welcome to comment I don't mind replying to everyone. I am pretty addicted to this H1 forum now haha What I did was say "oh someone left a door u locked" and that's how I'd make a comment on things to fix - may be worth doing that. My builder also knows I have a blog so I am pretty sure they have followed my posts too. I wouldn't be surprised if some things got fixed due to the blog as I may have mentioned it on the blog but both bothered to ask them. It's interesting how it all works. Those look like very odd issues you have there, hopefully they sort them out. Although I have had some issues it's still been minimal when I think about it compared to other builds and even comparing it to my parents last build - that was horrific! I am really happy with the outcome Re: Alex's first home build: Shower screens and mirrors 80Jun 01, 2015 11:07 am I think these are pretty obvious, so the ss would be aware of them. pretty sure the sparky drilled the light in the wrong spot and tried to cover it up.
