Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Acreage Home with GJ Gardner 221Jul 05, 2015 5:50 pm Wow great news to have a date!! My build thread: Custom build on 40 acres viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75656 Re: Our Acreage Home with GJ Gardner 222Jul 12, 2015 12:09 pm Little bit of an update. The painter has finished his job. Unfortunately we are not happy with the workmanship.... Maybe we got an eye for it because we did a couple of complete house renovations our selves in the past but I definitely don't think we are too picky. We will talk to the SS or builder. We are also considering to take an independent handover inspector before we do the last payment. I just will have to do some research who would be the best in our area. Friend of us at the Gold Coast has done the same in the past and the handover inspector found 76 issues for the builder to fix before the handover. I will not name the builder (its a very well known one) but the money for the inspector was a good investment.... I would say Just wondering whether some of you guys are also going to hire a handover inspector before the final payment?? They don't seem to go north of Brissy but I can ask him for a recommendation if you like? He's really really good, I've had a few friends use him now and everyone has been blown away by his thoroughness, so I'd trust a recommendation from him too. It's a shame about the painter, hopefully your SS is happy to get the painter back. All builders are making mistakes or can oversee something. When you consider how much money you spend for your new house, the $300-$400 inspection money is well spent. I hope they rectify it quick smart for you! Re: Our Acreage Home with GJ Gardner 233Jul 16, 2015 3:11 pm Thank you Bonnie, Ok, according to the SS, we will check the paint and everything else together with him next week Wednesday, after the cleaners are gone and mark what we don't like and what needs to be done. Then he will get the tradies to rectify all issues. We are ok with it and will see how we go We will get the handover inspector after that to see if we've overseen anything. Will post some photos after the cleaners are gone. Looking forward to move in soon Live Love Lough Building thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=74918 Building blog: http://uniquebyeva.com.au/ourhome/ Our food forest blog: http://www.foodforestcookery.com Re: Our Acreage Home with GJ Gardner 234Jul 16, 2015 5:01 pm Hi Sebeva, I can't belive I've only just come across your thread! Re: Our Acreage Home with GJ Gardner 238Jul 25, 2015 4:19 pm DoubleDutch You must be busy packing Hopefully you did manage to sort all the painting issues and are happy with the final result. We don't have much to pack DD as most of our stuff is sitting in a container and waiting for almost a year now. It will be like a Christmas and Easter together when I start to unpack all of it in the new house Regarding house, we did have the PCI with our SS on Wednesday. He checked the house with us and marked everything what we didn't like with a blue tape and promised to take care about. The painter came the day after and spent two days in our house which make me hope that he did a good job now. We didn't check it yet though. We get told when all the touch ups are done so we can make an appointment with our handover inspector. I still think it is a god idea to get one in case we missed something. We also received the last invoice but I informed the SS that we will pay it as soon as the house is ready for handover.... means when our handover inspector says that all is good and finished how it supposed to be. I hope this will be very soon Live Love Lough Building thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=74918 Building blog: http://uniquebyeva.com.au/ourhome/ Our food forest blog: http://www.foodforestcookery.com Re: Our Acreage Home with GJ Gardner 239Jul 30, 2015 9:17 pm How did you go, do you have the keys to your new home?
