Re: Our Acreage Home with GJ Gardner 182Jun 04, 2015 3:41 pm Thanks all for your replies . Sebeva we have only just moved to hb earlier in the year and are enjoying lots of aspects of it, kids love their new school and we are near family now too! If you could pm the plumber's details that would be great. Bpratt, I was of the understanding the worm farm people had gone out of business?? Which company did you use, have heard mixed opinions on the worm farm but sounds like a great idea to me! Re: Our Acreage Home with GJ Gardner 183Jun 04, 2015 8:03 pm We almost put in a worm farm, went as far as getting council approval. The only reason we didn't go ahead is because we later found out that we were able to put in the old type which is cheaper & less maintenance (but as bpratt mentioned it is generally only approved on larger blocks). We loved the idea of the whole system as there were so many positives. The only negative I know of is a local builder installed one but ended up ripping it out after it flooded after lots of rain and killed all the worms which made the system fail, sounds more like an installation location problem to me though. Which company did you use, have heard mixed opinions on the worm farm but sounds like a great idea to me! You may have heard of the ones that did have problems with the installations that flooded and/or floated out of the ground. The one I got is from http://www.wormfarm.com.au/ The owner of the business Alan, actually drives up from Melbourne up to here to install them himself. My only issue with them was not being aware that they need to be connected up to the house a flexible knuckle just prior to the tank itself. Alan connected ours up without one, so we had to retrofit one afterwards. Owner Building at Jimboomba Woods in Logan City Qld. Love your kitchen and tile colours Re: Our Acreage Home with GJ Gardner - Tiling Saga Continues 186Jun 07, 2015 7:21 pm We are still watching the tiler working The floors are NEARLY finished.... LOL, there is still the ensuite without any tiles at all. However, remaining floors are finished and we do have the grout as well. Not sure about the grout, the concern was that the level of the grout is lower than the level of the tiles but after doing a bit of research and thanks to "daydream" from this forum I feel better now as it looks like this is how its supposed to be. The house is nicely coming together, you must be really happy with it. Re: Our Acreage Home with GJ Gardner 195Jun 21, 2015 5:47 pm Thank you DD! I am very happy with all the colours we have chosen and cannot wait to move in! However, our tiler has still not finished the work yet We hope he will be finished this coming week... Lets hope... After 6 weeks of tiling job, I would love to see some more progress then No idea about the hand over date yet. I guess about 4-6 more weeks to go. The painting should take about two weeks, then all the remaining small jobs like finishing the plumbing, electric, white goods and cleaning. I will upload some photos after the tiler is finished Live Love Lough Building thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=74918 Building blog: http://uniquebyeva.com.au/ourhome/ Our food forest blog: http://www.foodforestcookery.com Re: Our Acreage Home with GJ Gardner 196Jun 21, 2015 6:02 pm Six weeks to complete a tiling job? Lol that explains our official handover date of 25 Oct. At least it looks like he is doing a great job, and quality can not be rushed. Is there much you need to do after handover, or have the GJ's done all the internal work? Re: Our Acreage Home with GJ Gardner 198Jun 23, 2015 6:57 pm DoubleDutch Six weeks to complete a tiling job? Lol that explains our official handover date of 25 Oct. At least it looks like he is doing a great job, and quality can not be rushed. Is there much you need to do after handover, or have the GJ's done all the internal work? We are going to do the floating floors in the bedrooms before the handover. Then, later, after the handover we still have to do the tiling on the alfresco and in the garage, but this can wait a little. Tiles in the garage? Does that mean you won't use it for your car? How is your tiler going? We will use it as a garage. Nothing happens to the tiles when you drive on them, or it shouldn't. We used to have it before. It looks much nicer in my opinion than just concrete or painted concrete. The tiler will be finished this week! Lets hope He only got the splashback to do in the kitchen and the pantry and grouting of bathrooms The painter has also arrived today and started his work so looking good Live Love Lough Building thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=74918 Building blog: http://uniquebyeva.com.au/ourhome/ Our food forest blog: http://www.foodforestcookery.com 1 4684 May I ask why you chose not to use GJ Gardiner?
