Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Acreage Home with GJ Gardner 241Jul 31, 2015 9:03 am Hi guys! Nothing really happened over the last few day so not much to update. someone turned up and cleaned the bricks for few hours. We are also still waiting for the windows people to come and exchange one glass (one of ours got scratches) and adjust the others and touch up the frames. A couple of them got nasty scratches...Not happy. Just wondering how the touch ups will look like. I will put some photos of the scratches to show you what I mean. I wish they would be more careful with the windows.... We got a new SS for a few weeks now and we cannot get warm with him at all... We showed him these scratches on the windows few days after the PCI as we didn't see them before and his comment was: "I was checking everything and they were not here the day before...." Apparently nobody was here except us so WHAT??? Did we do scratches on our own windows????!!! I don't like his attitude at all.... Really waiting for the day we don't have to see him anymore..... Sorry, I had to get the hot air out.... We got the handover inspector booked for Monday so there will be more to update after we got the report, I guess. I cannot wait to get the keys Live Love Lough Building thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=74918 Building blog: http://uniquebyeva.com.au/ourhome/ Our food forest blog: http://www.foodforestcookery.com Re: Our Acreage Home with GJ Gardner 242Jul 31, 2015 10:13 am Ok, these are the photos of the scratches: This scratch is actually a cut into the frame, you could see through... Now, the SS put some MORTAR into the cut. does it mean they will paint it over now and that's it?? Sorry, I had to get the hot air out.... Oh man, i would be seriously p*ssed about those scratches! They should replace them! I feel your anger with your statement above. Our guys won't allow us to go in and view our home anymore without a supervisor because we SOOOOOO want to damage our own new home! And what was he thinking implying that you would damage your own property any chance you may have captured it in an earlier photo? My build thread: Custom build on 40 acres viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75656 Re: Our Acreage Home with GJ Gardner 246Aug 03, 2015 7:04 pm I am so sorry to see that the GJ's are letting you down with these last few items. Surely the will replace the window or at least part of the frame. Painting over it would not last and look funny since these are coated not painted frames. Did you sort your inspector? Hopefully everything will be looked after! Re: Our Acreage Home with GJ Gardner 247Aug 03, 2015 7:59 pm The builder/owner of the GJ Hervey Bay had come by himself to us today to discuss all issues after he received an email from us on weekend. It makes us feel good that he cares about it. The handover inspector was also here today, checked everything with us and we get the report tomorrow. There are some bits and pieces they need to be fixed, like the windows and few others, but his overall impression about the house finishing was good so happy face I hope the builder will fix everything within a week or so and we can finally move in!! Yay!!!! Your house looks really great, hopefully you will get your keys soon and you can enjoy your home soon. Re: Our Acreage Home with GJ Gardner 249Aug 03, 2015 8:13 pm Thats great the owner has come to check it out. Think the owner of my gj would too. Think that is the good thing about building with slightly smaller builder. Im sure they will step up and you will have a fantastic house. Re: Our Acreage Home with GJ Gardner 250Aug 15, 2015 9:07 pm We are still waiting to get some of the defects fixed....We are patient but its starting to be annoying.... According to the builder we could move in straight after we arrange the last payment to the him but we don't see the point to pay for unfinished job... The painter was here again... for the touch ups... He turned his back to us when he saw us... Looks like he is upset because we want to have the job done how its supposed to be.... The windows/screens people turned up for two hours before darkness on Wednesday... and of course didn't finish the job as it was too dark very quick. Apparently they are coming back on Monday... Lets hope The brickies were also here this week to clean the dirty bricks and I just noticed today that they stained the ceiling of alfresco while cleaning the bricks.... Cross your fingers for us please that the story will end soon and we finally can move in.... Hope things get better for you. My build thread: Custom build on 40 acres viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75656 Re: Our Acreage Home with GJ Gardner - STILL NOT FINISHED... 254Aug 21, 2015 9:02 am Thank you all! The screens/windows people were here last Monday and AGAIN!! they didn't finish everything.... How good is that??!! should this be a joke or do I live in a different world??? Is it too much to ask for a straight security doors?? When we open it, we have a gap difference of about 3cm between the bottom and the top Now, the SS is saying they will come again next Wednesday! And apparently this will be the last task they have to do.... and the house will be ready... Lets hope.... We will see whether we have more luck this time.... They also "fixed" the cut in the frame.... They put a silicon into the cut and painted over.... it feels soft under the fingers when you go over it... I'm pretty sure that the paint will go off at the latest after the next window cleaning job.... Not sure what we will do about this issue now.... What would you do?? Re: Our Acreage Home with GJ Gardner 257Aug 21, 2015 9:50 pm Oh you poor thing, how frustrating, I would also insist on a replacement. Sounds like you have the same window people as us, bloody frustrating to say the least. We are also waiting for the last few adjustments to our windows after they turned up and only did half the job.
